Balkan culture closer to Southern or Eastern European?

Regarding European cultures some experts cluster the Balkan in either the eastern or Southern Hemisphere, or on its own. However they make a separation with Greece which is always Southern Europe together with Italy and spain.

Is it due to ottoman/Muslim influence? When I was in Montenegro and Croatia it felt like in Italy, I guess because the Mediterranean. Not sure how it is in central Balkan Serbia, Bulgaria etc

Balkan is Southeastern Europe, in between Southern and Eastern.
In some aspects closer to Southern, in some to Eastern Europe.

Don't know about eastern Balkans, but you have to divide them a bit since it's a bit different vibe eastern and western Balkans.

As for western Balkans, Imo it's slightly closer to southern Europe.

They like to spend their time at restaurants coffee shops all the time.
Everyone watches football all the time.
People are very loud and chatty.
People drive like retards and also fast.
Corruption is rapant in eastern and southern Europe so it's not really a factor, but I decided just to mention.
And then music industry is very strong and produced in local language which is imo more a southern thing. Eastern Europeans don't really have good music industries especially western Slavs, they are dogshit in it.

Can someone explain Eastern culture? I think it’s just like Central Europe just trashier. Ppl are neither religious nor bound to traditions like in southern countries.
