Idiotism is not a modern thing, there were idiots in the past too, i don't think the modern age is sucks, being young adult was more sucks during the world wars when a complete generations were crippled for nothing. In the past people made silly home videos shot with comparitively low quality video recording devices...sometimes these ended up on TV shows playing funny home videos.
From there now we have annoying Youtubers and Narcissist/attention whores galore but this has become part of the culture we live in....lots young people now born into this culture ...so can hardly blame many of them....as they are just born into a partly fucked up youth culture.

No question technology has come leaps and bounds...But now we have stupid cultural trends in Youtuberism and Tiktok shit that frankly just looks like garbage that will disturb and dumb down young peoples brains.

In the 1920's / roaring 20's ,was some interesting cultural phenomena eg in America Jazz music became popular and economic booms in post war recovery in North America and Europe. Even Germany/Berlin had cultural revolution in 1920's in Film /cinema industry boomed.

Post WW2 50's 60's were culturally pretty cool era's also.

In the past in certain ways yes the world at times could be more boring compared with modern because now we have endless choice of screen / technology entertainment and information and not just information but lots of bullshit/halftrues/conspiracy theories/chinese whispers etc but its all more stuff to digest than there ever was. Yet in the past life was more relaxing and our brains were not as filled up with junk/overstimulation, like someonse said we are all bunch of dopamine junkies accustomed to constant sensory stimulation.

Also your point about immigration has changed things also as many places/cities are overpopulated due to migration from internal and external. In the past there was a lot more peaceful, serene,quieter and relaxed places but such places are becoming less and less in urban and suburban areas.
