Byzantine Warrior With Gold-Threaded Jaw Found in Greece

A Byzantine warrior whose previously-broken jaw was mended with gold thread has been unearthed in Greece; new scholarship has revealed that he had been operated on using a technique propounded by the Greek physician Hippocrates 1,800 years earlier.

Killed on the battlefield in a desperate fight against the Ottomans in the fourteenth century, his jaw had been shattered by a blow at least ten years earlier.

I love how those ancient and ppre-modern surgeons operated in poor conditions and with little knowledge about surgeries. Thats an impressive part of the human's history for me.

The process is ancient but the modern rhetoric wants the medieval to be decivilized. As a Turk, you have to wonder why.

I personally find Ionian city-states impressive. But dont forget, not all regions were the same. And Byzantine already began deteriorating when we were still in Turan-Iran.

And for the record - without us conquering Byzantine, somebody else would definitely do that. Guess who? Caliphate of course. We -literally- blocked Arabian expansion into Europe by becoming muslim and expanding into Europe.

You Greeks are too narrow-minded, without us stopping Arabs at Antioch, you would look like average Saudi Arabian today and be pred. J1.
