Why can Scandinavians tan better than Italians?

Scandinavians tan to a light golden brown while most Italians usually end up reddish like British people. Whats the reason? Aren't people from the north suppose to be lighter because shorter sunlight and to get more Vitamin D?

south italians are as dark as one can be for european standards.

South Italians are a minority and they're not fully Italian they're mixed with Greek, Albanian, Spaniard and other mediterraneans so they don't count

Have you ever been to Italy? south italians can tan much better than scandinavians on average.

Most Scandinavians have type 3 skin. Most Italians have type 2. And like i said, if you see a darker Italian they're probably mixed. Even Italians themselves consider North Italians to be the most real Italians.

This is a misunderstanding. Scandinavians can tan very well while Bristish Ilses people cannot. There is an incredible huge difference in tanning ability. This has nothing to do with skin colour in untanned condition (which might be abt. the same).
