Default Kownacki fell in the second bout against Helenius

Obviously his plan of career was not good and he was an underdog in the second bout too. Maybe his manager thought that Helenius, as on old man, is suitable opponent. This reveals something about background in professional boxing. Boxing careers can be a masterful plan that suddenly breaks down.

    Edit

Kownacki got serious damages to his eyesocket.

Fury knocked out Wilder. I have not seen it, but this is likely a classic.

Haha. He was down long time after the dispute with Sauerland and he lost his best years. His deal with Sauerland paid too much.

Didn't quite get why bookies kept Adam quite big favorite in rematch too, seems Robbe got his number.

Professional boxing is business and especially not fair business. Contacts, under-the-table money, betting. Merits you see are often less or more cheating, but people in USA like to see this kind of extreme. Tyson was the last big American. They have good HW men, but old good days have gone. Show must go on.

I would actually offer Big George Foreman as the last great Champ in this Mike Tyson cut off scenario. Indeed many consider Tyson as the last mythic US HW eventho even guy like Wilder, he's no chUmp is he? Anyway I doubt anyone can deny Big George's mythic status.

Mike Tyson won his last Big Four belt (WBA) against Bruce Seldon, September 7, 1996. He later lost that title to Evander Holyfield, November 9, 1996. After that Mike never became Champ again.

George Foreman won his last Big Four belts (WBA and IBF) from Michael Moorer, November 5, 1994. He did this at gentle age of 45 years 299 days.

April 22, 1995, George defended his belts against Axel Schulz successfully, retaining his belts, and adding WBU title to his resume.

Next IBF ordered an immediate rematch to be held in Germany. However, "Foreman refused the terms and was stripped of his remaining title, yet continued to be recognized as the Lineal Heavyweight Champion"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lineal_championship

In combat sports where champions are decided by a challenge, the lineal championship of a weight class is a world championship title held initially by an undisputed champion and subsequently by a fighter who defeats the reigning champion in a match at that weight class. In professional boxing, the lineal champion is informally called "the man who beat the man".[1][2]
So technically, as no one beat the belts from George, he can still be regarded as the Champ, eventho he lost the belts (tho not WBU) through technicality and money disputes.

On November 3, 1996, George beat Crawford Grimsley. Retained minor WBU title, won minor IBA title. Still the Champ.

On April 26, 1997, George beat Lou Savarese. Retained WBU title. Still the lineal Champ.

On November 22, 1997, George lost to Shannon "Chump" Briggs on majority decision. Age 48 years, 316 days. No more Champ.

    The last great American Champ.

Definitely Foreman was one of greatest HW boxers, but in the middle of the '90s the depression already began in American HW boxing and Foreman, already far away from his best days, saw that he could challenge those young weaklings. And he did it. Tyson could have been still great, but he had life style problems.

I hope that Helenius gets his championship bout. He deserves it after all shit he has seen.

Big George would have beat Mike Tyson even in 90ies. George was wizard of uppercut and stiff arm control of head, which is effective against guy like Tyson who leans forward much and bobs and weaves. Joe Frazier is similar to Tyson and George absolutely killed Smoking Joe. Although Mike is much improved version of Joe in all other areas except spirit, it will not be enough to beat George. Mike would have killed Ali and his straight punches tho.
