many fans of Real and Barcelona in Romania. mediocrity will always follow the mainstream. I only support local teams, fuck the wealthy clubs, bring them down, sports should be amateur or semi-amateur at most

Yeah but it's incredible a team let's say FC Sherrif beats Real Madrid. Imagine how drunk they got in Trasnistria that night. And ofcourse local teams, but if a local team is incredibly shit there is nothing you can do.
A great football city is for example Napoli, there is just one club, everyone love it. And when they won first time scudetto the whole city was in extasy, 0 opposition.

No idea about Napoles but when Real Madrid won the Champions League in 1998 after 32 years, 1 million of Madrileños celebrated in the streets. ONE MILLION! One of every 40 Spaniards! of course there were all type of altercations, etc etc...
Add to that all the rest of supporters from the rest of Spain...

Basque country is probably the place where less Real Madrid-Barcelona suporters you can find. In Basque Country you can find more Barcelona suporters by far than Real Madrid suporters but Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa are the provinces where local teams have more suporters, although with masive non spaniard inmigration, Real Madrid-Barcelona fans will be bigger numerically because inmigrants are exclusively Real Madrid-Barcelona stupid fans.

Is Real Sociedad as popular as Athletic Bilbao in the Basque Country, or are they seen as traitors since they dropped the rule of all teams have to be 100% Basque born/origin in the 70's or 80's?
Real Sociedad with all distances aside seems to be the Basque version of Espanyol, since it has "Real" in it's name so I guess their supporters like the Spanish Monarchy and hence more prone to be pro Spain and not Basque Nationalist...

Comparing Spain to Portugal, the Spaniards are much more prone to support local teams than we do, even if it's not in the same rate as England or Germany.
If you pick up any Portuguese randomly in any corner of the country there he could be of any of the big three but hardly of anyother club unless you are in Guimarães where they overwhelmingly support for Vitória.
But there are regional tendencies within the rate of supporters of the big three. FC Porto is very strong in the North but particularly in the Porto metro area plus close regions to it (like Famalicão, Espinho, and Northern Viseu), Benfica is a very national club but might lack some supporters in the already mentioned Porto metro area since it is overwhelmingly FC Porto area, Sporting is also national but lacks some support in a lot of Northern regions like Porto, Trás os Montes (even tho there are some exceptions) or some areas of Minho.
