Péter Márki-Zay will be the opponent of Orbán in the 2022 parliamentary election

I also voted for him, i hope he will win.

Péter Márki-Zay is oldschool conservative politician, religious christian, ex Fidesz member, now independent, major of Hódmezővásárhely. His main promise is the prosecution of all corrupt politicians, he prefer economic liberalism, free market what i like very much, he is against the migration and the western PC.

I don't know much about him, because I followed the recent events in hungarian politix only superficially. Do you think it's correct to say he's like Orbán, but not corrupt?

He is very similar to Orbán, they had almost same conservative policy, but Márki-Zay is not corrupt, he has no oligarchs.

For right-wingers he is the ideal candidate, since he is just like Orbán, minus the endless corruption and being pro-EU, hence I'm rather disappointed after 11 years of right-wing, nationalist regime, Hungary still would change Orbán with someone with similar ideas to him (I would have preferred Karácsony, but I still prefer Márki-Zay over Dobrev). However luckily there will be many Liberal, Leftist and Green politicians in the huge coalition he will be leading, even forming the majority of his coalition, therefore he will definitely not be capable to push forward his Libertarian economic ideas if he will become the next prime-minister, but he will be pushed to apply more Center-Left policies which Hungary completely needs now.

Funny but the pro-western radical left Momentum is also supported him. I have many Momentum voter friend and they love MZP very much. After 11 years the hungarian Left finally realized the reality that the hungarian society is hardcore conservative, so a leftist opponent cannot win. The peoples still remember the chaos and destruction what happened under Left between 2002-2010. Nobody want it, neither the radical left Momentum.
Hungary needs free market and such economy policy like in the USA, and not this aid based society.

I won't get into a political principles debate with you again since we went through it on so many topics, but even if I'm disappointed not a Green Leftist candidate won, like Karácsony, but I am well aware that at first Hungary needs a candidate that can form the largest coalition against Orbán, and right now MZP is that person. The next half year will be very interesting in Hungarian politics.

Economy policy (right or left, free or controlled) is one thing. EU's immigration policy another. But do you think that there has been risks/problems with democratic principles (inside of Hungary) ... like who controls media, what can be said etc? As that is the biggest issue criticized about Orban in the west (he will try to silent opposition). Would not be first time in ''Eastern Europe''. Not economy politic, or opinions against EU.

1.) So has that been problem or not?
