Check this thread about the hungarian media situation, i linked tons of sources and numbers:

The western leftist newpapers are lying about Hungary. There is no problem with human rights in Hungary, the problem is the huge corruption.

Of course human rights will include/concern much more topics than just how well/easily opposition will get their voices said & hear. The latter one is just one main principle of democratic system.
If the problem is corruption ... then I have to say that changing person A to person B will hardly help enough. Sorry to be pessimistic. But just as the system around will still stay as it has been. The non written rules will stay like they have been. People/citizens will stay like they have been (what is allowed, right or wrong). To get away from all that (in one night) ... you should change Hungarian people from leaders to normal citizens ).
Or other way ... this is decades, even several decades process ... a long process where all of you should want this. Not only you (normal people, voters) but also those who will get into leading positions.

Fact: Márki-Zay became famous because he defeated the Fidesz in Hódmezővásárhely and he did almost his every election promise as major, so im optimist.
The main things what i want from politicians: minimum taxes, economic liberalism, free market, and human rights. Orbán guarantee that, but Márki-Zay too. The good thing is the hungarian Left and their crazy socialist ideas are almost completely broken, even the most of opposition voters are conservative/centralist not leftist.

Szemkilövetés, tönkre vágott gazdaság, valamint akkor is ment a korrupció, akárcsak most.
Legyen 2022 a Te éved!

Well, I hope you'll get what your're looking for and I would have been wrong.
Estonia (closely to Nordic countries) is good example. It is very US bases country. Very different vs Finland (for example). If we just look economical ideas. As they got their independence back 90's they left on that road. I know it has been hard for some ... weak people (maximum capitalism) and excellent for much less people (becoming very rich). BUT yes .... the country has developed. If they would have chosen very leftist policy (or ideas of Nordic countries ... all should have rights to good life) ... I doubt they would have gotten as far in this same 30 years time. They have done better than Latvia or Lithuania as well. Of course we should not forget help of EU money either. Still (just my thoughts) in some point more leftist arguments might rise among of them (hand by hand as standard of livings rises). Already so today, even as those have not yet had any influences their governments or political lines, ideas, visions. Cold capitalism is hard way.
