Canada is not what others think it is. Trudeau can’t do anything with his minority government. I live in a conservative governed province and our domestic vax passport ends in January. Why? The difference between a Finn and a Swede: higher IQ, looks slightly more Asian, doesn't wear expensive clothes, less arrogant, more down-to-earth , doesn't bully Sami natives, doesn't colonize , respects both higher and lower cultures, no social hierarchy.

I guess that western peasants came to country with difficult climate not because of the successful life. Many had here usual "state peasant' status but not the special "german". And yes, half of Ireland moved to America.

Why north tends to be religiously and culturally less dogmatic. There is the protestantism catchword but was surprised to read something similar in Russian north:

Many Pomors are Orthodox Old Believers. Their etica closer to protestant christianity in some way, but it is dogmatic religion. Just before birth of Lomonosov appeared Russian church schizm and many educated wealthy people from Central Russia moved to the North, Ural e.t.c. Also there is no information about Pomor origin of Lomonosov and he was from peasant family that lived in "castle village" that worked straight for aristocracy and of cos' have some level of education. Also he began his study in Orthodox academies in Moscow and Kiev. Russian North was the society with conservated pre-mongol Rus' culture and people there decided to have some taboos that helped not to mix with aboriginal people. Prohibition on the use of pork, veal or blood as a food for example. As i understand its far from the cosmopolitism. And dogmatic religion lead to a theological justification and that is good for education.
