In my opinion, upbringing is the most important factor in terms of claiming an ethnicity. DNA is a secondary factor. This is valid at least in my case.

0.1% of human DNA is different in each person (except for idencal twins) and I guess this difference is a result of environmental factors. If environmental factors are different than it was before, that 0.1% begins to change in a manner that the individual would better adapt to the physical environmental that he or she lives in.

these 0, 1 % seem to be essential though. Humans are around 98,5 % genetically similar to Dolphins- but it seems some mutations are "silent"- they do not show in protein sequences ( i m not a genetist though)
You are theorizing its only "enviromental" factors, but it is most likely not, if you look at populations, mating habits etc. Adaption has its limits. White and black Americans did not turn to Natives as well, because they cant that easy.
There is also no proof that Australoids were really "adapted" to their enviroment- adapted similar like wombats or kangoroos? They dont look similar i think. Australoids retained a very old look because they were isolated for a very long time, while modern Australians look far removed from that and arent that isolated in similar manner like Australoids were.

No, it's not that mad. Usually to identify as Maori or Aborigine, you have to have at least 25-30% of your ancestry being such.

Actually you can legally identify as being of Aboriginal descent with much less. I knew a girl who was getting benefits because she was 1/16 Abo or so.....

I actually forgot to state “what if White Australian population is isolated” in the original post. As for the fact that White Australians have different genetics than Australoids, such difference is a consequence of environmetal factors. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It's a combinations of genetics and environment. The Aboriginal people have different mutations and genetics than European descended Australians. If white Australians didn't mix and were isolated they would still not become Australoid. You can get populations living in a similar environment and they won't be the same. If you think of Eskimos living in the frozen North they haven't developed white skin and lighter features because they didn't need to do that as they get enough Vitamin D in their diet so they kept their darker eyes, hair and eyes. Asian people living in similar conditions to some European populations aren't going to change to look European and vice versa. If the populations mix then they will get traits from each other but a population develops mutations over a long time span but not every population will develop the same mutations. Also modern Australians don't have anything like the lifestyle that Indigenous Australians had i.e nomadic hunter and gatherer lifestyle. Most Australians now spend little time outdoors unless for leisure and people use loads of sunscreen when outside. There won't be the selection pressure to develop darker skin. What will make a difference is if people from different parts of the world than the original white stock of Australians (i.e. Britain and Ireland) i.e. Chinese for example settle in large numbers and mix with the white Australians then naturally Australians will start looking more Asian.

So the Australian Population in Australia who identifies as "Aboriginal" is heavily European mixed?

There are some full blood Aboriginals but they are nearly all in remote communities. Most in suburban areas and towns are mixed but look Aboriginal. So I would say the majority who identify as Aboriginal look it. There are some heavily European mixed that also can identify as Aboriginal but they wouldn't be the majority.
