Americans among most dissatisfied in the world and majority want overhaul of politics

Americans are among the most dissatisfied with their government, according to a new survey of advanced countries by the Pew Research Centre.

Eighty-five per cent of adults in US who were surveyed wanted significant changes in their political system, while 76 per cent wanted changes to the healthcare system and 66 per cent wanted major changes in the economy.

The survey, which was conducted across 17 advanced economies in February 2021, comes as countries across the world grapple with the Covid pandemic, and shows the impact of the coronavirus crisis on attitudes toward democracy and social reform.

“A median of 56% believe their political system needs major changes or needs to be completely reformed,” the survey found. “Roughly two-thirds or more hold this view in Italy, Spain, the United States, South Korea, Greece, France, Belgium and Japan.”

Citizens in 13 of the 17 surveyed countries said that their political systems needed major changes.



While 85 per cent of surveyed Americans called for complete political reform, the numbers were worse in Italy (89 per cent) and Spain (86 per cent).

Despite the large number of Americans calling for changes in the political system, not many were hopeful – a trend reflected in other countries as well. At least 58 per cent of Americans and South Koreans said that they were skeptical of changes to the political system. Respondents in Italy (73 per cent), Spain (64 per cent) and Greece(58 per cent) expressed similar views.

Only 41 per cent of Americans are satisfied with how the democracy is functioning, the survey revealed.

The US also had the second largest number of citizens calling for changes in healthcare. As many as 76 per cent of surveyed Americans wanted changes in healthcare system, second only to Greece, where 77 per cent sought healthcare reforms.

Among the surveyed Americans, more Democrats or Democrat-leaning independents wanted healthcare reforms in comparison to Republicans or Republican-leaning independents.

The survey also showed widespread discontent among Americans about economic recovery. Nearly 66 per cent in the US expressed discontent with the economy. Only citizens in Italy (85 per cent), Greece (84 per cent), Spain (83 per cent) and South Korea (72 per cent) were more dissatisfied with the economy than Americans, the survey found.

It also revealed that in the US, 80 per cent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents think that major economic recovery is needed in comparison to 50 per cent of Republican and Republican-leaning independents.

In the past, these money will go to china in the mids of war, but now they can not invest in the common sectors and agricultural sectors, because these are not hot enough to hold up the value. So we have the destructive waves of global infrastrature craze, bitcoin, martian travels, and probaly GMO too, because technological manipulations can ensure a floating market for these capitals to enter. Deforestation is not even a question, they will raze the whole greenage of Earth down in a blinking if it make some money. The real problem is the unjustified money is too too much, all sorts of problem will happen. So we understand the real face of Global Warming campaigns, their concerns with the rapid growth of chinese economy, and the so called information highway economy, the speedy development of the Moore's law, and why our environment is growing uninhabitable(not due to warnhouse gas but to more visible destructions of the forests and oceanic ecosystem).

Private equity powerhouses are sitting on piles of uninvested cash

The top 25 private equity firms are sitting on $509.8 billion in uninvested cash, according to data released Tuesday from S&P Global Market Intelligence and Preqin.

Those firms are holding 22.3% of the global dry powder total of $2.29 trillion in August, according to S&P. That is a significant increase from December, when the worldwide total was just under $2 trillion; in December 2019, the figure was $1.63 trillion.

Out of the top 25 cash holdings by PE firms, 15 of them are based in the U.S., led by $43.2 billion in cash held by Blackstone Group Inc. ; followed closely by KKR & Co. Inc. with $42.8 billion in cash; and $33.3 billion by U.K. firm CVC Capital Partners (See chart).

Why are Corporations Hoarding Trillions in Cash?

Corporate America is flush with cash! Collectively, the Amazons’, Apples’ and other such publically traded mega corporations account for close to $2 trillion in cash. This excessive hoarding of cash in unparalleled in financial history and hence has left a lot of economists flummoxed.

The Problem with Piles of Cash

Financial and non-financial firms hold cash for very different reasons. It is not unusual for financial firms to hold on to a lot of cash. Hence, in order to be fair, it is important that only the cash holdings on non-financial firms are being considered in this article. However, that does not seem to make too much of a difference since non-financial firms account for $1.6 trillion of this cash pile.

This is pretty meaningless without comparison, of course people in the West are dissatisfied. What are the numbers for Russia or China or some other totalitarian state?

A state is an undesirable arrangement for the people who prop it up, it is tolerated for one true reason alone: TO KEEP THE COUNTRY WHITE. Every western democracy has been failing to uphold their singular responsibility for decades, so of course people are fed up lel.

These armchair activists are almost always middle-class white kids in the suburbs that don't have any real existential issue, are bored out of their minds, and are appropriating issues so they can have something to struggle against. In 2008, the Democrats ran on a platform of "Hope and Change." As a country, they gave them complete control. Majorities in both chambers plus the Presidency. For several months, their majority was filibuster proof. They did NOTHING with it.

Most Americans have almost no time off from work, healthcare tied to work, and many have no protection from being fired for any reason other than federally protected classes. Now, if the economy goes into a full on depression, and even more people lose their jobs, expect guillotines to appear.
