    Default Gallipoli Serbs

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallipoli_Serbs

On the video down is descendant of Gallipoli Serbs. Interesting about his speech are ikavian words di (where) and lipo (nicely). In more recent period ikavian speaking area among SW Slavs is quite more western than Morava valley which is original homeland of Gallipoli Serbs. Serbian linguist Miloš Moskovljević wrote that in speech of Gallipoli Serbs exist ikavian words.

Video tittle is We are not Greeks we are Gallipoli Serbs

Serbs live from Gallipoli and DONBAS to the Lusatia.

Other Serbian group in Istanbul and around except Gallipoli Serbs were Serbs who from Belgrade moved in Istanbul in the time of Suleiman the Magnificent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgrad_Forest#History

The first group of Serbs to be settled in Gallipoli were from Srem, but naturally they were relatively recent arrivals from the south (medival Serbian core areas).

Here's something for those who can read and understand Serbian cyrillic:

Ikavian part in speech of Gallipoli Serbs might be from Srem. Speech of Gallipoli Serbs was ekavian-ikavian mix.

According to researches of notable Serbian linguists Pavle Ivić, Miloš Moskovljević and Slobodan Remetić the oldest Serbian population of Vojvodina and western Serbia was ikavian. Western Serbia is ijekavized due to Serbian settlers from the south/southwest in Ottoman time, but ikavian enclave in Podrinje survived to deep in the 20th century. Vojvodina is ekavized due to later Serbian settlers from the south/southeast. According to these linguists ikavism in western Serbia and Vojvodina was indigenous and unconnected with ikavism from western Herzegovina and some other regions. They arose separately.

Scientific work of linguist Miloš Moskoveljević Ikavian speech in federal republic of Serbia (1963), pages 502-503, his conclusion (https://dais.sanu.ac.rs/bitstream/ha...=1&isAllowed=y): According to the collected material and according to the exposition so far, i think it can be concluded that present day ikavian speech in Podrinje is not from some settlers from Dalmatia, Herzegovina and Bosnia, it's remain of the ikavian dialect, which arose from the beginning of pronunciation of yat as i in northwestern Serbia and Vojvodina. Remaining ikavian words outside of Podrinje show the territory in which it was once spoken.

Map of early yat pronunciation (ekavian, ikavian, yekavian) among newshtokavians after the disintegration of yat according to Moskovljević.
