    Default new Chinese 2seat J20

A short video of a Chengdu J-20 Mighty Dragon that circulated on the internet Oct. 28 shows a taxiing new two-seat version of the stealth fighter, still in primer and untreated composite. It could indicate at least a trainer version of the airplane or possibly China’s future approach to manned-unmanned air combat teaming.

China has hinted at the existence of a two-seat J-20—possibly known as the J-20B or J-20S—in social media videos and trade show presentations, but the new images, if authentic, indicate the airplane has reached the fabrication stage. China has leaked or allowed videos to be circulated of Mighty Dragons taxiing at the same test facility since the J-20’s existence was first revealed during former Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ visit to that country in 2011.

The U.S. opted not to develop a two-seat/trainer version of the F-22 and F-35. This was both to save money but also because it was believed pilots could become proficient enough in the simulators that their first flight in the types could also safely be their first solos. That decision was based on experience with the A-10 and F-117, neither of which had an operational two-seat version for training.

While China may have learned from operating the J-20 in a training/development role for the last few years that a two-seat trainer is needed to improve safety, the fact that it was not created early in the program hints that there are other reasons for its appearance now.

One possibility is that the two-seat J-20 is a rough analogy of the USAF’s F-15E two-seat strike airplane, in which the weapon systems officer manages the employment of ground attack munitions. However, the J-20 is clearly optimized for higher-altitude flight and likely, standoff operations in the strike role. The F-15E was built around the two-seat F-15B/D trainer versions, however, which appeared soon after the single-seat F-15A and C models.

The two-seater may also indicate that, like the U.S. Air Force, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force is planning to operate drones or other unmanned aircraft in partnership with its frontline fighters. A second crew member in the cockpit could relieve the pilot of managing these additional aircraft while operating in what is sure to be a complex and rapidly-shifting air combat environment. The back-seater could reduce the pilot’s workload substantially in this application, at the cost of some reduced range due to the extra weight of a second crew station.

China is known to be working on a number of “loyal wingman”-type projects—including a stealthy-looking, cockpit-less jet similar to the J-20 called “Dark Sword”—and recent intelligence estimates have said that China is advancing rapidly in artificial intelligence.

Chinese source seem to confirm 2nd pilot is there for purpose

    https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/2021...68.shtml?id=11

Photos and videos that give the world the first glimpse of the long-rumored twin-seat variant of China's J-20 stealth fighter jet circulated on social media this week, leading foreign media outlets to say that the aircraft is the world's first stealth fighter jet with two seats.

An extra seat could allow the second pilot to deal with complex tasks that can't be done by one person alone, like electronic warfare and the control of accompanying drones, and this will give China an advantage in the air, analysts said.

The unverified and undated photos appear to show a J-20 in yellow primer paint with a two-seat tandem cockpit and an elongated canopy to enclose it, at the flight test airfield of the Chengdu Aerospace Corp under the state-owned Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), US-based news website thedrive.com said in a report on Tuesday.

Both reports pointed out that the twin-seat variant of the J-20, the designation of which has not yet been confirmed, will be the first twin-seat stealth fighter jet in the world, and not even the US has an equivalent.

The existence of the twin-seater J-20 has been rumored for a long time.

"Assuming we do have a twin-seat version of the J-20, it would not be a trainer aircraft, because it would be developed for the enhancement of the aircraft," said Yang Wei, chief designer of the J-20, at a press conference at Airshow China 2021 in late September when being asked about the possible twin-seat jet.

Military experts and analysts reached by the Global Times said that the J-20 excels at information gathering, processing and distributing, and many of its potential functions could only be taken advantage of when a second pilot is on board.

A second pilot could make more use of vast amounts of data than only one pilot, and make the twin-seat J-20 an aerial command center, and control a swarm of loyal wingman-style drones, analysts said.

Another possibility is that the second pilot could run electronic warfare or tactical bombing tasks, which could also be overwhelming for just one pilot, experts added.

When added to the J-20's stealth capability, this will give China significant advantages in the air, they said.

I will expose how chinese govt exploited their totalitarian advantages to develop AI and Big data edges including 5g technology by circumventing all legal issues entailed in the Big Data. As long as the govt can tap into civilian privacy for zero cost, you can rest assured that china is the leader in espionage and AI and other tech scams. But USA is not innocent either, 5g, 6g, electric cars and Information Highway economy, Global Warming these scam-rationales all started theoretically from USA, this is not innocent theoretial adventure but deliberate ideological manipulation with vested-interests. The premise here is that Big Data and AI are complementary to each other. AI needs to be experimented on big data environment to develop more efficient algorithms, like the case of Alpha Go. While playing the Go(围棋)game, it taps into the immense potentiality of possible positions, which in turn helps programmers to develop better algorithms. The same method also applies for any form of AI, the bigger data it can tap, the better algorithm you will get. Let me stretch a bit to the Quantum computing tech, which is essentially an computing machine for Big Data in the vein of decision making by tapping into the possibilities of olarger selection trees. Quantum computer can not do classical computations, but it is very quick to be applied to the data experiments.

Another fact about 5G is that it is an AI application into telecommunication, besides basic configurations in signal coding, another major player is AI, mostly 5g still a sham, either for Huawei or Qualcomm, because the new coding techs like Huawei`s polar code and Turbo and LDPC codes from Qualcomm are not essentially breaking the record except for the massive nextworks of base stations which are harmful to the environment and human health. And 5g is not energy efficient, although carrying more infos, but how do we evaluate the value of infos vs the cost of energy? do people really need that speed of telecom for use at all? or is it a scam to breach our privacy and try to earn credits for the bankers on our cost?? This is virtually a tech bubble, just pumping up more power to fuel the base stations and phones, the new coding techs are just meant to serve the increased input of energy not really a revolution in efficiency.

The Melding of AI and Big Data

Big Data is here to stay, and it’s just going to get bigger and bigger. The future trend will be an increased demand for AI.

As it was mentioned earlier, AI and big data complement each other. And we need lots of data for AI to be efficient!

The game of Go originated in China more than 2,500 years ago. Confucius wrote about the game, and it is considered one of the four essential arts required of any true Chinese scholar. Played by more than 40 million people worldwide, the rules of the game are simple: Players take turns to place black or white stones on a board, trying to capture the opponent's stones or surround empty space to make points of territory. The game is played primarily through intuition and feel, and because of its beauty, subtlety and intellectual depth it has captured the human imagination for centuries.

But as simple as the rules are, Go is a game of profound complexity. There are 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible positions—that’s more than the number of atoms in the universe, and more than a googol times larger than chess.

This complexity is what makes Go hard for computers to play, and therefore an irresistible challenge to artificial intelligence (AI) researchers, who use games as a testing ground to invent smart, flexible algorithms that can tackle problems, sometimes in ways similar to humans. The first game mastered by a computer was noughts and crosses (also known as tic-tac-toe) in 1952. Then fell checkers in 1994. In 1997 Deep Blue famously beat Garry Kasparov at chess. It’s not limited to board games either—IBM's Watson [PDF] bested two champions at Jeopardy in 2011, and in 2014 our own algorithms learned to play dozens of Atari games just from the raw pixel inputs. But to date, Go has thwarted AI researchers; computers still only play Go as well as amateurs.

Unfortunately, the subchannels converge to these limiting cases relatively slowly, meaning that the error-correcting performance of Arıkan’s polar codes improves more slowly with the blocklength than other widely-used codes, such as Turbo and LDPC codes.

According to the plan, about 50 base stations are required per square kilometer. If 5G base stations are covered nationwide, 9.6 million x 50=480 million base stations are required.

The electricity bill is equivalent to several hundred times the annual profit of China Unicom. Even if it only covers 1% of the country’s area, electricity bills can bankrupt the three major operators.

This is only the electricity bill and does not include any other costs. How much power does a 5G base station consume? Look at this test data, this is already the world’s top-level base station, produced by the world’s top suppliers, using the most advanced chips from Japan and the United States. 5G base stations consume several times more power than 4G base stations.

5G base stations use a lot more energy than 4G base stations: MTN
    by Linda Hardesty | Apr 3, 2020 11:56am

With 2.99 million 4G base stations in the mainland, China’s big three mobile operators certainly account for the lion’s share of the global 4G total – more than 40 per cent according to some analysts.
--Blog: How many global base stations are there anyway?
    Joseph Waring 01 SEP 2017

How absurd is this, 5g base stationS will be numbered in 100 times more than 4g, tell me that is a technological advancement or just a barbarous energy pillage and fraud. I do not know much about tha J20 thing, just a comment about the highly praised AI and 5G scams. 5G, 6g, electric car scams need to stop, they are just trying to reserve gasoline for supercars for ultra rich people in a much higher price, leaving commoners footing the costly environmental bills of nuclear powerplants.

J20 will be used to threaten neighbours like Japan, India, Afganistan, Thailand, Nepal, Philippines, Indonesia and chinese people rather than USA, by reading my posts so far, one should know USA is not the enemy of china, but a partner in global deception. This is a real tragedy for people of the world, India, Japan, Taiwan would be likely left to face china alone while the US will just sit back and count the cash. The US only fights for the wallstreet and non other, so far it has succeeded in buying off the world and one is deeply deluded to believe china is countering the USA.

5g base stations do use lot of energy but it can be used to heat buildings

    https://metropolitan.fi/entry/world-...yed-in-finland
World's first liquid cooled 5G base station deployed in Finland

Finnish telecom operator Elisa has deployed the world's first commercial liquid cooled 5G base station. The technology has been developed by Nokia and allows using the waste energy of the mobile network device to heat a building or hot water. Liquid cooling can reduce base station energy consumption by 30% and CO2 emissions by up to 80%.

The development of a commercial grade liquid cooled 5G base station has been an important project for both Elisa and Nokia, as the companies strive to be more sustainable and environment friendly. For a number of years the companies have collaborated on different ways to improve the efficiency of cellular network tech, including a liquid cooled 4G cell:

The base station requires an installation location from where the excess heat dissipated from equipment can be captured and directed to the building using water circulation. This can provide significant cost reductions in the long term as 90% of the energy of 5G base stations is converted into heat. With common outdoor installations this energy is completely wasted.

Nokia's liquid cooled production grade 5G network device has been designed and built at the Nokia factory in Oulu, Finland. According to Tommi Uitto from Nokia, the device is the first commercial solution for operators looking to decrease energy use and carbon footprint.

That number of base stations required in 5g still sends coldness through your back, and 6G can not be based from such a grim criterion for 5G we have today(This is sick, 480 million base stations in china alone). Untill we can reduce the cost of electricity and the number of base station to the same level of 4 G and its biological and environmental hazards be rigorously assessed, this is not a real 5G at all. I refuse to use any 5G product if not forced to. If you can not cut the number of base stations, stop calling it 5G.

World's first liquid cooled 5G base station deployed in Finland
BTW, Nokia has done a good job, thought seems to be technically not groundbreaking but ethically convincing, we need such commitment to ethical fineness in our new tech developments. I would like to use more Nokia equipments in chinese 5g network but people can not choose, it is totally up to the govt. If we can have energy efficient BSTs at a reasonable number, who will refuse a 5G?? Nokia and Ericsson need to do more in this direction.
