Accurate I guess. Northern Italian languages like Piedmontese definitely seem closer to French. Then you have Venetian, I've heard clips where the accent literally sounds like Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese. As for Romanian and Tuscan or Standard Italian, it's hard for me to say. Italian is my least studied major Romance language, so I'm probably not one to say. What I do know though, is that Italian is lexically closer to Romanian than it is to western Romance languages, but not as close as Sardinian and Romanian are.

Romanians have about 30% Slavic ancestry. Since the Slavic ancestry is not dominant for Romanians and because they don't speak a Slavic language, Romanians cannot be considered Slavic. That said, Romanians have tight relations with their Slavic neighbors.
