Beauty has always been a an important element of sacrality, evident in everything from religious architecture to spiritual poetry. The reason for this is that beauty on the material, or physical plane of existence, is an extension, or reflection, of the wholeness of the spiritual world. When we recognize something as beautiful, we recognize it has harmonious, whole. This recognition comes from the spirit in us, the jiva-atman or puruśa. Striving for, and appreciating beauty in life, is thus a form of sadhana in itself! May all beings be happy!
