While I have nothing against Italians I do personality think you are more likely to find mexicans that fit In Italy more than proper Spain and I'm not talking about "criollos white mexicans" but more ordinary mexicans harnizo/castizos etc
Besides mexicans have some Jewish/levantine admixture something that Is absence In modern Spaniards.

Call me crazy but on Facebook a girl added me not to long ago from a mutual interest group that we shared thinking I was Italian no BS.

I agree 100% with you, in general Hollywood do the same that we see in Anthroforuns. They whitewash Italians and darkwash Spaniards.
