It has been long taught that Christmas is not a Christian holiday, despite having the words "Christ" and Mass" and all the feast days included. The notion is that all the celebration practices are Pagan- including the trees and even the feast days. But this is not true. Christmas trees derived from Martin Luther and the modern Christmas we celebrate comes mainly from 16th Century Germany- this custom includes the greens, the Christmas tree, candles, carols, feasts, and the giving of presents. The wise men brought presents, so the origin is clear. The tree represents the tree of life, and Jesus is the light of the world, so we light the tree. Feast days come from the Bible- where they had many days of feasting and celebration and were told by God to do so.
The Pagan traditions have little to do with the real Christian Christmas celebration. In fact, it is more evident the Pagans stoled Christian traditions and adopted them later. The first Christmas was the birth of the Lord Jesus and the church continued the tradition of gift giving.
Some Christians are refusing to celebrate Christmas, and nothing would give Satan more pleasure than to curb the one time of year when the Gospel is spread near and far through secular means.
