Since you seem to have Coon as your reference.
This is a part of his summary concerning the race of the ethnic Germans.
«To summarize the data on the physical anthropology of Germany it seems necessary to stress the relative absence of conventional Nordics comparable to those found in eastern Norway, in Sweden, and in England.»

The nordic strain is probably more evenly distributed in Germany and Netherlands , in general, but the idea that Southern England and continental Germans and Dutch are nordic on the whole is laughable. I find the Dutch are especially nordicized on this forum but that is incorrect fantasy. I don't see why people want to be nordic scandinavian outside of philistine reasons :

Can't say too much about the Netherlands except for the fact that the South is surprisingly brunet i have found on internet searches, really no different to Belgium. The UK has some outstanding Nordic specimens especially in the middle and upper classes, anyone who has visited an affluent part of England or Scotland will have noticed that there are quite a few individuals of great purity. On the whole though The English are probably as brunet as the central Germans and Flemish/south Dutch.

That's on Eurogenes K13. I don't think the Irish are closer to the Danes than the English but they are closer to the Norwegians than the English are. Not very surprising really as they have higher Steppe input than the English which would bring them closer and from studies it was more the Norse that impacted Ireland and Scotland. I don't know why people make such a song and dance about it? You need to weight up things like Steppe. Having Germanic input does not necessarily make you closer to certain populations.
My closest population on the K13 are the Icelanders.
Northwestern European populations are all very close anyway. This is Ancestry's plot and there are other plots out there.

This is a video of people from Galway so completely random. I've posted quite a few videos as you can't cherrypick. There is definitely degrees as far as darkness in hair colour. While Irish are apparently so dark haired they aren't comparable to Southern European populations of course because most Irish have more lighter shades of brown and a red haired minority which is always visible in random crowd videos and I haven't seen this in other populations that get posted on here. I'm sure Scots and Welsh would be similar.
This is from Galway.
