It's really shocking that Germany has taken this path. Some are even suggesting that Germany is "returning to its Nazi roots" -- but what is happening now is even more scary than that.

Not nearly the same situation of Germany. Germany has many, many meta issues that are not just birthrate related. For every issue Hungary has, Germany has it plus unique issues on top of those.

Also, if people don't want to reproduce, you can't make them. Women (and men) either value and find happiness in having children and living a family life, or they don't. Nobody gets in the mood for kids if they feel like there is the eyes and hands of the government watching them and forcing them to be together like show dogs. If they people don't value their genetic future for whatever reason, then they eventually die. Simple.

Yes, the Gypsies have higher birth rate than Hungarians, but cause their life-conditions, also have higher death rate, too. This is how it is balanced!

Also, by the goverment's measures, the situation of Gypsies are better than in 15-20 years ago. The Gypsies in Hungary are increasingly rose out of poverty, working and studying in high school or university, but there is still work to be done. Also, the many children in the Gypsy famlies are is starting to go out of fashion, the 2-3 children are more common, but is true, that the Gypsy girls become mothers at a younger age, than the Hungarian girls (typically as 15-17 years old, but nowadays slightly postponed to 18-20 years of age).

The childbirth at very young age among Gypsies are partly come from the ethnic culture, partly from the culture of proverty. As for the latter, the poor Hungarians also birth at pretty young age. The educated and socialized Gypsies give up this pattern; I know from my primary school a Gypsy guy, he is 23 and he lives normal life, furthermore he don't have children.

And Hungary don't stay out of migration. Budapest has very high GDP per capita, the living standards are very good, Budapest is one of the richest region in the whole EU, the hungarian capital belong to top category inside the Union:



Orbán has stopped only the illegal migration, but everyone can move to Hungary with papers, and there are more non european migrants in Budapest year by year. If someone live here (like me), then he/she see it very clearly. Hungary adopted tens of thousands ukrainian refugee, there is 15000 chinese in Budapest you can see them in Josefstadt, what is basically a half Chinatown:



You can see tons of nigerians and other black africans in the Nagymező street, Blaha Lujza Square, Deák Square and in such nightclubs like Mori2, Cream and Peaches, Black Dolphin Club etc. But there are many turk, north african, arab, not rare to see them on the street.

In North Hungary gypsies are already 1/4 of the local population, and this proportion is growing:
