That is a little exaggerated. Some Brazilians have only 12 or 10% of African genes. I have 12% of African Ancestry. This porcentage don't represent the whole population. White Brazilians have a low porcentage of African genes. This results probably come from mulattoes or dark Brazilians

Agree, but these results show how agressive they were against natives. It's sad. It's need to reinforce protection the few natives remnants, maybe giving then part of the Amazon territory and let they rule there before they get extinct.

In my personal experience people from Maranhão are much more african than other Northeast states, many of them are mulatos, zambos or griffies. I would say its at least 25.5% african and 28.5% native american.

Most natives were wiped out by diseases. It was almost impossible for the portuguese to kill 5 million of people quickly. Most died because of diseases, there's a lot of letters written by jesuits that show how a simple sneeze could kill an entire tribe in some weeks. Had the natives had a better imune system Brazil would be at least 20% native american on nowadays. Most natives that lived in Brazil were not sedentary, so killing all them by warring agaisnt them would be a very difficult task, even harded than the aztecs, which were sedentaries. That being said, the level of repopulation in the portuguese America was insane.
