Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil)

The Spanish Guardia Civil (Civil Guard), is (along the Spanish National Police) the other very important Nation Wide Police force in Spain. The main difference with the National Police (which is a more urban) is that the Spanish Civil Guard is like more rural, so to speak. But both Police National Forces take care nationwide of very important issues like drug traffic, gangs, murders, robberies, terrorism, human traffic, etc., and obviously they frequently work together and cooperate with each other.

I might be wrong, but I got the impression that there are some functions that are more performed by the Spanish National Guard than the National Police, and same for the opposite. As for example, in the Spanish airports Guardia Civil takes care of customs, while National police takes care of Immigration. Spanish Civil Guard also takes care of immigration when it comes to the Spanish land borders though. And then, Spanish Civil Guard is more present when it comes to road traffic (more so in national roads than in the cities), and National police is more present when it comes to anti riots in urban centers.

None of these two police forces is above the other. Both of them are equally nation wide important.
