The Carabinieri have indeed one of the smartest uniforms; hardly a surprise given Italy's superb traditional craftsmanship on this department. However, I would just add that ordinary Carabinieri do not wear white gloves or cloaks, this is a more "formal" attire probably used near emblematic squares or places of interest\state buildings. There's also a ceremonial variant.

They are nice.. but Carabinieri uniform was designed over 100 years ago.
It was therefore kind of expected that, in developing their own army elite corps, the Nazi took the Carabinieri uniforms as model..
The Waffen SS uniforms designed by Karl Diebitsch and graphic designer Walter Heck in 1932 ( Hugo Boss ) were inspired by Italian carabinieri.
Hitler was a pupil of Mussolini...
