I know the original poster disqualified Kaliningrad, but I have to wonder, if it is made up of "transplants" from across Russia, and now surrounded by foreigners, wouldn't that heighten its sense of being Russian?

Russia is such a huge country, it is one thing to be Russian is you are far from anywhere else, but on the "front lines," it probably has stronger meaning. Maybe that goes even more for Crimea.

Stop sniffing glue. What the hell is "Poles/Balts"?

Poles don't cluster with Balts, while Central Russians cluster with Estonians (Tver, Moscow, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Nizhny Novgorod), a bit farther South-West (Kursk, Smolensk) they plot with Balts because Baltic tribes were a part of Russian ethnicity since the period of ethnogenesis.

Poles cluster only with the most Southern Russians (Voronez, Orel).

Tomsk is full of Ukrainians and Germans + students from all of the Siberia, but architecture there brings some russian authentic to the atmosphere. Going to visit Tomsk in April.

But he indeed invests insane amount of time in Russian news.
I never liked his non-European nickname. I heard he's going to go to those places soon.

Very soon we will read the real truth of what is happening there. I hope, because real viejo more busy in topics "who is lighter..." than what is happening in his country captured by North Africans and Latinos.
