Default Polls open in North Shropshire by-election

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-59668219

The polls have opened in the constituency of North Shropshire to elect a new MP.

It follows the resignation of Conservative MP Owen Paterson, who was found to have breached parliamentary rules on lobbying.

The former cabinet minister, who stood down last month, had held the constituency since 1997.

There are 14 candidates standing in the election. Polls opened at 07:00 GMT and close at 22:00.

This election could be the beginning of the downfall of BJ.

Does Shropshire have many Welshmen living there? They are practically side by side.

More than most other parts of England, but it is still only like 6-7% if the population there.

A lot of us on the right want BJ gone, though for different reasons than the left (we see him as a tax spend social democrat). It’s also clear he’s an electoral liability at this point, Labour are dominating the national polls. If I was a Labourite I would hope Boris keeps power till the next election.

I thought you said you had social democratic leanings yourself? And insofar as what you say of Bojo the clown is true, he does it out of expediency and necessity (e.g. furloughs during lockdowns), not conviction.

I’ve shifted a bit right on economics, but still distant from American libertarianism or whatever, probably closer to a believer in a social market economy of sorts. Social policy is much more important to me than pure economics regardless. Boris does what ever is popular, he has no real ideological convictions, that’s my personals belief.
