Default Why we definitely are more than only our biology

Imagine someone is an identical twin, then that is someone who is genetically identical or 100% like their twin brother. Nevertheless he has his own consciousness, is his own individual. If one is bleeding, the other is not bleeding. If the other loves a woman, the twin does not love the same woman, I suppose both are married to two different women. They also don't have the same train of thought at the same time. They don't die in the same time at the same plae from the same thing. So there is such a thing as prediction or fate, neither have the same fate, both are more than just their DNA.

Well, where do you think consciousness comes from? The brain or...?

Identical twins do not have identical DNA. It is very very close, because they do start out from the same point, but as they develop in the womb, very tiny differences will appear due to the influence of hormones and mutations. You might not catch this stuff on an ordinary DNA test (which only looks at a handful of specific genetic locations) but a more in depth DNA test will be able to tell the difference.

There's no such thing as fate, fate means our lives are guided by stories, that somewhere, in some book we are recognised as objects, and the things we do are recognised as actions of actors, not just random bits of matter floating around.

Confirmation bias can act as a placebo that push you towards things unconsciously. You wouldn't know it until you look back and trace your steps. In most cases, steps to nearly any event, personal or otherwise, are not extremely hard to trace down but doing so can take plenty of effort and time.

Even if the universe's course is set in stone, there are labels (fate, destiny, whatever) we fling around, and we replace plain old motion with stories about those labels, but they're misleading and usually inconceivably vast oversimplifications of what actually happened.

Some people believe that our reincarnated spirits enter a body with a kind of "game plan" for the lifetime, some believe we are guided/directed by the spirit world. People say "things happen for a reason" as a copout from accepting the dispassionate nature of existence.

The idea that everything is under individual control is just as misguided as the thought that everything is planned ahead.
