Traditional Scandinavian houses are red, because red ochre paint was commonly availabe. Maybe East Slavs had more blue pigment.

I find that colour horrible. Why is it used so much among East Slavs and and why so little among other Europeans?

    I attach an example pic.

if only blue, it is not actually, this is terrible style:

I rather prefer lighter shades of blue but this isn't too bad. But it is indeed interesting their penchant for it.

Maybe when you enter the house, there is yellow colour.

Blue outside, yellow inside. Ukrainian flag!

This could give rise to a new theory. May it be a Finnougric genetic contribution to Russians that cause such a taste? The Flag of Finland is conspcious in this aspect...

No, "faluröd" is historically a forced thing by the state. It was a waste product from the state copper mines and there was issued the "tax" law that every peasant (or more people, I'm not sure) had to buy that colour (for a high price) and paint his houses with that. The bigger houses you had the more you had to buy and paint. And the administration could just walk around in the country and see if somewone did not pay his tax, by not having his houses painted that way.

Scandinavians paint their houses too, I guess for the same reason, but they do it in various colors. Do East Slavs use exclusively blue color?

I saw Scandinavians use red, yellow, orange mostly, with some blue thrown in. But red mostly.
