I really want you to elaborate on that... Because the vaccines, under the premises of what Western governments promised at the beginning, were supposed to grant citizens all their liberties back after the lockdowns and the subsequent restrictions in movement and various rights. Well, fast forward 1 year later, and the exact opposite has happened: freedoms have lessened, dramatically.
Right now, you need to show a vaccine certificate and your ID to restaurants, cafés, shops of all services almost (except supermarkets and pharmacies thankfully) if you're vaccinated. if you're unvaccinated, even if you're negative to the virus according to rapid or PCR testing, you're not allowed in. No epidemiological reasoning.
The various governments said that once we reached 60% of the population to be vaccinated, then all measures, be it masks, be it lockdowns, nationwide or local, and restrictions between the citizenry would cease to exist entirely. Yet, the Netherlands recently went into a lockdown... With a vaccination coverage of 85%. Denmark yesterday went into another lockdown, with almost 90% vaccination. New Zealand in August was closed entirely because of 1 (yes, one) case, with a vaccination coverage of 80+%. 3 of Australia's states went into successive lockdowns in early fall with cases numbered at the fingers of one hand, with vaccination over 80+% also. Now Australia is also preparing special facilities for COVID patients that are basically concentration camps and are an official measure of the government.
They said to you we would return back to normal. When? Honestly, when? From tomorrow, all travelers to and from Greece, as well as in any other country, will reinstate mandatory PCR testing for everyone, vaccinated or not. As aforementioned, you are required to show either a vaccine, disease or testing certificate for services and now, they impose restrictions which make absolutely no epidemologic sense towards the unvaccinated. And now, you have to be triple vaccinated, and not double vaccinated, in order to be considered "fully" vaccinated. And the certificates of disease from COVID-19 are now going to be of less duration than those of vaccination certificates, despite the fact that natural immunity is longer-lasting than that caused by vaccination. No need to mention blatantly undemocratic mandates to enforce vaccination, which literally was promised to not be done, on behalf of the same governments that currently apply them. What a mediocre joke.
All of that for a virus with a mortality rate well below 0.5%. What would happen if it was slightly or substantially higher? What will happen now? Because it's been 2 years now ever since this started, and I haven't managed to live, speaking as a student, a normal uni life. And everyone hasn't lived a normal life for that period of time. When will all of this just stop?
