Default Being Arab = being born in Arabian world + being a Muslim

Being an Arab is not something related to DNA and genetics. If a person is a Muslim and was born in Arabian world, they are considered as an Arab. People who are not Muslim but live in Arabian world has different ethnic identities such as Maronite, Assyrian, Chaldean, Coptic, etc.

That’s BS they are called Copts. No one calls them Romans. Romans is sometimes used as a slur not as something positive but it’s referred to Europeans only not Christian ME’s

    I read that in Haaretz:

Some of the community’s members live in the upscale Cairo suburb of Heliopolis. Others struggle for existence in the capital’s poorest sections, including the Manshiyat Naser neighborhood, nicknamed “Garbage City” because of the Zabbaleen – a community of Christian garbage collectors who process about 40 percent of Cairo’s trash.

Di Giovanni spoke with one member of the Zabbaleen, Adham al-Sharkawy, who recalls the abuses that he, his family and his community have suffered. He has been taunted as a “Roman,” some of his relatives have been murdered and the government has tried to limit the Zabbaleen’s work in favor of foreign competitors. As a Coptic Christian in Egypt, di Giovanni says, it is virtually impossible for Sharkawy to rise out of his socioeconomic conditions.

The Copts are the native people of Egypt, descending from the people who lived in Egypt at the era of the Pharaos, the Mudslem arab people of Egypte are not.

Arabic-speaking Muslims in Egypt converted to Islam after the Arab conquest of the country. They are not real Arabs (but of course they identify as so).

It’s an Israeli paper and also it sound fishy how they call him Roman. No one calls them Romans. Roman is reserved for Europeans only.

There is no genetic difference between Muslim and Coptic Egyptians genetically, same people divided by religion. All Egyptians trace their ancestry to ancient Egypt not only Copts.

Well, ok, but Copts regardless aren't considered Arabs, I think. Although I think that is fine, since they don't consider themselves to be likewise.
