Default Migration of developers from Russia and Ukraine.

You can often hear in near-IT circles that all developers, if they have not left yet, are preparing to go abroad. But not from Ukraine, because there is a paradise for developers: they pay well, prices are low, and "democracy". However, a non-political study by JetBrains shows something completely different: it turns out that almost 2.5 fewer developers left Russia than from Ukraine, and a similar proportion among those who moved to Russia or Ukraine (more are moving to Russia).

The full text of the study is here (https://www.jetbrains.com/ru-ru/lp/devecosystem-2021/), but it is unlikely to be of interest to non-developers, with the exception of the graph above.

    Spoiler!

If Russia really wanted to know where it sits compared to other eastern european countries, they would have listed all eastern european countries instead of pooling them together in a completely dissimilar group like "Eastern European, Balkan and Caucasus".

That grouping is meaningless - there is a big difference between getting a job in Bucharest or in Tbilisi. Besides, emigration of a workforce that does not need a visa and a work permit to get a job in Paris or Frankfurt is very different from one that it does.

Bullshit study - garbage in, garbage out.

    Topic about Russia and Ukraine.
It seems to me that in the IT field it is more profitable to get a western salary and live where the standard of living is lower and ever cheaper, such as South Asia and Eastern Europe, although now it is probably already difficult to figure out where it is cheaper.

Don't forget that these numbers are cumulative. Emigration is not that high now.
The fact that developers do not leave does not mean that they do not work for the USA, etc. Many, if not most, in IT work through intermediaries in foreign companies. It's just that Russian and Ukrainian customers put forward high requirements for projects for less money (but Russia also has many of its own IT projects, quite at the world level).

Of course, in the West IT workers are making average wages and these eastern developers on average won't be paid as much as their western counterparts even if they emigrate in the West. So why emigrate and pay half the wage for some shitty 1 room bedroom when you can live with a top 1% income in Ukraine? Bonus, no LGBT, risk of being culturally "enriched" by a pack of pakis, negroes and other western "values".
