2. The computer
3. As for 3 i'm stuck between antibiotics and harnessed electricity (not electricity it's self, of course that wasn't an invention, however the system needed to generate electricity and distribute it accordingly was an invention).

Still fossil fuels; without which most inventions, one of which might be a computer, are artifacts. Then perhaps some helpful drug.
