Default Hottest Christmas Day on Record in Perth 42.9°C (109.22°F)

Lucky I was only outside for short periods . Tomorrow 44°C.

Some people had their Christmas dinner outside due to numbers and of course a lot of people at the beach. No way would I be at the beach with these sort of temperatures. Not only that but some backpacker brought in Covid and so far 7 people have contracted it. He was unvaccinated.

It’s official - Perth has sweltered through its hottest Christmas on record.

Temperatures reached a whopping 42.9C at Perth Airport at 4pm, blitzing the previous Christmas Day record of 42C set in 1968.

The city hit 42.6C and the Swan Valley reached 42.4C. At Pearce, in Perth’s east, the mercury soared to a scorching 43.3C and in Swanbourne, the coastal breeze would have been little relief for the 43.2C temperatures at 2.36pm.

The hottest temperature recorded in WA was 45.6C at Lancelin at 1.47pm.

I get my news from the radio in the car when I'm travelling and also online. ABC and SBS are much better than the commercial stations though as they at least have some good programs. SBS has a lot of programs from Europe such as Scandi-Noir type programs which I enjoy.

Much too toasty Mopi for my liking. Although I don't think I could tolerate cold temperatures that you guys have to put up with. Luckily it's not this extreme all the time only some days in Summer but you will always get some days that at 40°C+ in the Summer. The average temperature is slowly rising though.

Climate projections for Western Australia (WA) are that average annual temperature will increase by 1.1–2.7°C in a medium-emission scenario, and 2.6–5.1°C in a high-emission scenario by the end of the century. Annual rainfall in the south-west is projected to decline by 6% by 2030 and 12% by 2100 (median values) for a medium-emission scenario, and by 5% and 18%, respectively (median values) for a high-emission scenario. In the northern and central parts of WA, annual rainfall remains relatively unchanged. WA's climate is already highly variable.

It's somewhat hot in the Northern hemisphere too.

But just today, the rest of the month we were freezing to death.

Probably the elite controls the weather to make it look like global warming hit Christmas.

It's about 5(c) here today. Mixture of duck blue sky and grey clouds, with occasional ice cold rain showers. Will by dark by 3,30pm. About 3 hours of light left. Britain is a grim place in winter

Much better for a traditional Christmas dinner though. Lots of spirits needed to keep the cold at bay. As much as I don't like this extreme heat I don't think I'd swap it for the cold and dark winters. Most people here would like to experience a Northern Hemisphere Christmas though and would have it on their bucket list.
