Was a typical hot Christmas Day in Eastern Australia, 32c where I am. It sucks not being able to eat outdoors in the afternoon.

No matter if you're born here or how many years you and your family have been here, Christmas in Summer will never feel quite right for us Europeans in Australia, although there are aspects of it I like and would miss (the balmy evenings walking around looking at the lights for example, or Carols by Candlelight outdoors).

People still carry on the traditions from the old countries. A friend married into a big Italian family and there are about 40 of them with partners and children. She has to have it outside because there are so many. I don't know how they coped today in that heat? She was dreading it when she heard what the temperature was going to be and they don't have a pool either. There was also dinners arranged by some charities for people with no where else to go and they are all outdoors. I find that sort of thing mad. I was in places where there was AC so I was fine. Still 32°C seems positively mild in comparison to the temperature we have now and over the next few days. All 40°C+.

I prefer summer to winter but I can’t imagine having Christmas in the heat. I like 4 seasons.
