    Default Old Prussian/Baltic/Polish architecture

An interesting relic of the past:

    Konigsberg castle

    Fort Kreidrichsburg, Konigsberg

    Malbork castle Poland

    Rezhel castle Poland

    Trakai Island castle, Lithuania

Where are your family roots all from? Like which parts of Germany?

Your grandfather's Prussian heritage must be why you have East European ancestry on 23andme.

Maternal Grandfather is from East Prussia

Paternal side gotta be a mix of Frisian and Rheinland such as my Maternal Grandmother side.

I am a Frisian for sure based on my Lastname and they are from the North Sea coast.

But all recent ancestry and which I am capable of tracking is Rheinland based, besides my maternal Grandfather who is a refugee.

I see now why G25 was underestimating your Baltic/Slavic ancestry. The rest of your ancestry is very western shifted. Using Belgian as a proxy instead of German we get these values.

    Target: Max_scaled
    Distance: 2.0344% / 0.02034361
    82.8 Belgian
    17.2 Lithuanian_VA

    Target: Max_scaled
    Distance: 2.2725% / 0.02272471
    67.2 Belgian
    32.8 German_East

Keep in mind, German_East is from Leipzig and hence not a perfect proxy for East Prussians as its too western, that's why you get so much of it in the second model. In reality an east Prussian might be in between Lithuanian and German_East.

    Total in Kreis Sensburg in 1849 - 7083 / 29766 (80,8%) / 4

I also have data for this county for 1825, but without detailed breakdown:

    Total in Kreis Sensburg in 1825 - 3769 / 22391 (85,6%) / 5

Wojnowo was mainly inhabited by Russian Old Believers but the census added them to Polish-speakers (most of them could speak both Russian & Polish).

Kreis Goldap (Gołdap) is interesting because it had Trilingual settlements:

    Kreis Goldap, year 1835:

    Legend:

    Gemeinde - German-speakers / Polish-speakers / Lithuanian-speakers

    1. Urban settlements:

    City Goldap - 3469 / 0 / 0

    2. Rural settlements:

    Gołdap - 4244 / 257 / 157
    Gawajty - 3802 / 20 / 117
    Mielkiejmy - 2711 / 24 / 1099
    Żytkiejmy - 2196 / 25 / 1050
    Dubeninki [Dubeningken] - 1656 / 688 / 1123 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubeninki
    Grabowo - 2822 / 1894 / 0
    Górne - 1510 / 633 / 2

    Total for Kreis Goldap in 1835 - 22410 / 3541 / 3548

    Data for some other years:

    Total for Kreis Goldap in 1832 - 21463 / 4123 / 3614
    Total for Kreis Goldap in 1825 - 17412 / 3940 / 3559

    ^^^
Gemeinde (German) is the same as gmina in Polish, and probably municipality in English (but I'm not sure if municipalities apply to rural areas?).

It is the level of administrative divisions below county-level, and can include both urban and rural areas.

Try Belgian + Polish, should be a perfect fit because IIRC his ancestors from Sensburg County were ethnically Polish Masurians. This County was 86% Polish-populated in 1825.
