To have or to be?

Very soon I will graduate from high school and go to university.My parents force me to study at the Faculty of Law.But there is one problem.I hate the subject "law"!"This topic is terribly boring and complicated.I hate him and I don't want to be a lawyer.I have a pretty good aptitude for history.I like this subject, I'm good at it.I want to go to a historical university, But I'm not allowed!The fact is that in Russia historians receive an extremely small salary ($ 273 per month).I have a choice in front of me:go to study to be a lawyer, then work as a lawyer and get a lot of money, but hate your profession and life, or go to study to be a historian, do what you love all your life, but be a beggar.What would you do?

Become a lawyer, save up money and then do a course in history.

You don't need to be historian to enjoy history, you can for example take part in reconstruction historical groups etc
If I were you I would choose being lawyer for job and choose history for hobby

Do what you wanna do, consider others, but always do what you wanna do

I'd tell you to do what your heart tells you to do, but it is nice when you are young and parents support you.

I’m going to say something that might be more of an unpopular opinion.
But if I could go back in time, I would’ve got my degree in a more abundant and stable field.
The truth is, we are bound to burn out of a subject once it becomes work. Our passion soon becomes mundane and repetitive.
Emotions/Passions are temporary. Going to school and becoming a lawyer is quite an accomplishment and comes with a stable and financially fulfilling career ahead of you.

It’s a tough choice but as I said, in my personal experience, I wish I wouldn’t have listened to my “heart” and chose the more logical route instead.

Do some work experience next to a history teacher and a lawyer for a couple of weeks and see if you completely like it or hate it. University subjects are very different from the job at hand afterwards

I would almost always advise to go for your passion, however it sounds like being a historian does not even pay a living wage over there. I'm very surprised.

Are there no other options, no other areas of interest for you? I would suggest a route that at least pays a living wage, and also that you do not hate. Hate is a no go.
