    Remember this viral photo?

In the entire period between 2018-2020, a large number of people used to share this post on whatsapp, facebook and other platforms on social media. People used to put pressure on the government to massively slash the oil price to what our neighbours Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan used to pay.

    1. Today, Pakistan does not have food to eat. The country is on the verge of bankruptcy. Inflation is ~ 30% and a vast proportion of population is struggling to even procure basic necessities. It is struggling even to get loans.

    2. Sri Lanka suffered bankruptcy and had to be bailed out. There was no food, no fuel, no energy and no medicines for a large population.

    3. Afghanistan collapsed - financially, politically and socially.

    4. Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan had to hike their fuel prices steeply due to financial constraints.

Despite the pandemic for 2 years, current global slowdown, war-induced disruptions, India has a stable & robust economy with around 5-6% inflation, 5-6% growth and an all time high forex reserves.

Never Forget what mindless Freebies do to a nation - and beware of what lies ahead when you fall in the trap of such free handouts.

Default The Spectator World: China’s useful idiots in Virginia

In recent weeks, Virginia Democrats have warned that so-called "China-bashing" could lead to mass internment of Chinese Americans, and argued against requiring taxpayer-funded universities to disclose grants from the CCP.

Much of the China-related drama kicked off when Youngkin nixed a Ford plant’s construction in the state because of concerns that it was tied to the Chinese Communist Party. According to Youngkin, the deal was “an economic arrangement engineered to tap into federal government subsidies paid for with taxpayer money that is going to economically benefit the Chinese Communist Party.” And he’s onto something: Fox News reported that the CEO of Contemporary Amperex Technology, or CATL, which Ford would work with in the plant, is part of the CCP’s “United Front” propaganda arm.

Default WSJ NEWS EXCLUSIVE. NATIONAL SECURITY

Quartz: Lab leak theory gains credence

A US agency said the pandemic likely started after a leak from a Chinese lab. The Energy Department joins the FBI in this assessment, according to The Wall Street Journal, but four other agencies still say natural transmission spread covid, and two are undecided.

Lab Leak Most Likely Origin of Covid-19 Pandemic, Energy Department Now Says

U.S. agency's revised assessment is based on new intelligence

The new report highlights how different parts of the intelligence community have arrived at disparate judgments about the pandemic's origin. The Energy Department now joins the Federal Bureau of Investigation in saying the virus likely spread via a mishap at a Chinese laboratory. Four other agencies, along with a national intelligence panel, still judge that it was likely the result of a natural transmission, and two are undecided. U.S. officials declined to give details on the fresh intelligence and analysis that led the Energy Department to change its position. They added that while the Energy Department and the FBI each say an unintended lab leak is most likely, they arrived at those conclusions for different reasons. The National Intelligence Council, which conducts long-term strategic analysis, and four agencies, which officials declined to identify, still assess with "low confidence" that the virus came about through natural transmission from an infected animal, according to the updated report. The Central Intelligence Agency and another agency that officials wouldn't name remain undecided between the lab-leak and natural-transmission theories, the people who have read the classified report said.

China doesn't have a large enough blue water navy and pretty much zero experience in naval warfare. They would quickly be sent to the bottom against a country like the US or UK.

    Exclamation CHINA'S DOWNFALL AND ISOLATION

Quote Originally Posted by tipirneni View Post

On the contrary. Freeing and liberating the American and European economies from China or from the oppression and domination of State Communism or predator capitalism will create an American and Western industrial renaissance.

The following articles and citations seem to remorselessly, and even gleefully and merrily, "proclaim" China's downfall and isolation and subsequent disgrace.

China no longer viable as world’s factory

US curbs on China’s access to advanced technology are killing its viability as a manufacturing base for exports, according to the head of Japan’s Kyocera, as one of the world’s largest makers of chip components shifts its production elsewhere and invests heavily in facilities at home. In October, the US announced export controls that would severely hamper efforts by Chinese companies to develop cutting-edge technologies. Last month, Japan and the Netherlands also agreed with the US to restrict exports of chip manufacturing tools to China.
    https://archive.is/zuxlE

A Resounding Maybe on Fleeing China

    1. In China no longer viable as world’s factory, the Financial Times rings a death knell for manufacturing in China. The article focuses on Kyocera, a Japanese company that makes “products from printers to solar panels and has been relocating its manufacturing facilities out of China.” According to Kyocera’s president, US curbs on China’s access to advanced technology are “killing” China’s “viability as a manufacturing base for exports”; manufacturing in China only works for products “made in China and sold in China”. The “model of producing in China and exporting abroad is no longer viable.” China’s high wages and relations between the US and China have made it too difficult “to export from China to some regions.”

    2. In Key Tronic ramps up as customers leave China, the Spokane Business Journal writes of how Key Tronic has had a “tenfold increase in contract-bidding opportunities as many companies—prompted by production delays, rising costs, and tensions with China—are pulling business out of that country.” Key Tronic, a contract electronics manufacturer, doubled down on its facilities in Vietnam, Mexico, and the United States because it thought the move away from manufacturing in China would happen, and it did.

    3. In China’s Future Ain’t What It Used to Be, Johns Hopkins professor, Joseph Joffe, paints China as an economic has-been, with “dissipating” growth that stems from “an economic model of copying yesteryear’s fast risers, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea” and a population that has grown old before it got rich. Joffe n0tes that in about 25 years, China will “be the oldest big economy in the world, with an army of 350 million pensioners” and it has already gone past the demographic “tipping point” with negative population growth. Per Joffe, China’s ever-shrinking labor pool will (it already has) increase wages in China and eat “into China’s competitive advantage as the factory of the world.” Making matters even worse for China, its productivity is lagging behind its labor costs. Joffe’s piece is a very good and very important one and I urge everyone to read it in its entirety because my brief summary does not do it justice.

    4. In Freeing the U.S. economy from China will create an American industrial renaissance and millions of good-paying jobs, Marketwatch published an opinion piece that argues China has already crossed all red lines and it’s time for the United States to decouple from China. The piece argues that doing so will help the U.S. economy and teach China a lesson on human rights. There are plenty of people who have long held these views so the views themselves are not indicative of any real change. But, their being published on an investment site like Marketwatch is yet another indication of changing mainsteam attitudes relating to China

Fewer American Companies See China as an Investment Priority

Fewer U.S. companies consider China a top investment destination following disruptions caused by Beijing’s harsh anti-Covid measures and rising geopolitical tensions, according to an annual survey by a major American business group. U.S. companies are also more pessimistic about their financial outlook there, with more than half saying they didn’t turn a profit last year and more than a third saying their China revenue fell from a year earlier, according to the survey conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in China.
    https://archive.is/LqkG4

US Companies in China Are 'Exhausted,' AmCham China Says

U.S. businesses in China are more pessimistic about prospects -survey

Insular India's exporters will struggle to fill Chinese shoes

National trade strategy will make it hard for Indian companies to take full advantage of Beijing’s geopolitical problems.

Multinationals wanting to reduce their geopolitical vulnerability are on the hunt for the “plus one” in a “China plus one” production strategy — or increasingly, as tensions rise between Washington and Beijing, a “China plus one, minus China”.

India, especially given last year’s big expansion in high-end Apple iPhone production, is an obvious contender. It’s low-cost, English-speaking and has a substantial domestic market. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents himself as an enthusiastic globaliser, and has signed or is negotiating bilateral trade deals with the UAE, Australia, the UK and the EU. His “Make in India” strategy, launched in 2014, aims to replicate the success of multiple east Asian countries creating globally competitive manufacturing and lifting millions out of poverty.

The reality is less impressive. India has already had a decade of opportunity to scoop up the industrial production leaving China. It has performed poorly, and its trade and investment policy is regressing towards unhelpful Indian traditions of protectionism and import substitution.

As China Reopens, Flight of Wealthy Chinese to Singapore

Well-heeled Chinese are leaving China for Singapore, attracted by the city-state’s low taxes and high-quality education, amid anxiety over China’s direction under leader Xi Jinping. The trend is set to accelerate, according to relocation consultants and lawyers, as China’s reopening allows for freer movement across the country’s borders, making it easier for wealthy individuals to move their families overseas and manage their assets from abroad. The shift follows almost three years of strict Covid-19 controls that all but cut China off from the outside world.

Default COVID lab leak admission the 'biggest' and 'most embarrassing' government turnaround

There are currently two main theories. This should go without saying. But, even so, it's important to say, anyway. According to Euronews, the first is that the virus spilled over from animals to humans most likely from a market in Wuhan, China. The second theory: the virus spread from a laboratory in Wuhan after an accidental leak. However, this Wednesday, the latter started to gain traction after FBI Director Christopher Wray said in an interview with broadcaster Fox News that COVID-19 "most likely" originated in a "Chinese government-controlled lab". Denials from authorities seemed political all along, and public trust will take a long time to recover. Americans were "lied to" during the whole COVID-19 pandemic following the US Energy Department and the FBI's admission the virus likely came from a lab leak in China, Sky News host James Morrow claims. "It is frankly the biggest and most embarrassing government turnaround since Napoleon got to the Moscow suburbs and remembered he and his army had an urgent appointment back in Paris to get to," Mr Morrrow said. Government finagling and misdirecting, especially in crises, are destructive to the long-term public good. And to democracy itself. And in the end they're always destructive to personal reputations and social identities. The Wall Street Journal last Sunday upended an old debate with a big exclusive:

The Energy Department has told the White House it believes a lab leak was the most likely source of the Covid-19 pandemic. As reporters Michael R. Gordon and Warren P. Strobel noted, the department’s new stand is important because it results from new intelligence and because of the agency’s expertise—it oversees a network of labs. Two days later Christopher Wray, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, confirmed the FBI’s view that it was “most likely a potential lab incident . . . a potential leak from a Chinese government-controlled lab.”

The fallout of the forced narrative continues. There is a significant sentence in the WSJ report of 2 March 2023. It turns out China's major viral laboratory is in . . . Wuhan. If the new virus has been found in the population just outside the lab, chances are good it escaped from it. And everything in your logic said this—common sense, Occam's razor. And what is that? New Scientist says that Occam's razor is a principle often attributed to 14th century friar William of Ockham that says that if you have two competing ideas to explain the same phenomenon, you should prefer the simpler one. Like maybe the disease started with bats in caves, and it was natural transmission, from bats to humans. Or maybe, just maybe, it spread to humans at the crowded local wet market—raw foods, live animals, germs. As the Wall Street Journal rightly notes, people have a right to know and have a right to wonder. And they are wise to do so. The disease killed millions. And it was a world-wide economic, societal and cultural disaster. Why it happened matters. Where and how it started matters. There could be another pandemic tomorrow. What steps must be taken to see that it doesn't? It turns out that there was cause for skepticism about the virus' roots. The title of the USA Today article is telling: "COVID lab leak wasn't a conspiracy theory. Where's our apology?" So much for 'misinformation.' But, unfortunately, the damage is done, or more likely just beginning. And the damage has already been done to those who dared go against the "correct" or "more correct" narrative that limits truth and reality to a few powerful men in high positions. The White House, in the meantime, is spinning the latest news as there's no "consensus" within the federal government on COVID's origins. That's not fine, and certainly not noble. The real threat is still out there, and the public deserves to know the facts. Dr. Jerome Adams rightly observes that this lack of transparency has caused irreparable planetary harm, and yet the World Health Organization still hasn't shown itself willing to hold China to account, or to put in place measures to ensure that we have the necessary sharing of critical information when inevitable crises occur in the future. In other words, we remain just as vulnerable now as we were in December 2019. Science is great, but is only great within its limited boundaries, and these are vast; but still science cannot, of itself, reach the true sublime, as F. R. Waring noted as far back as 1871. All potentialities, as Religion in Life noted in 1944, are realizable only within the limits of the truths of reason and the truths of fact. Ideals and brute facts limit every possible nature, human or divine - especially the human. In this context, Ingrid Jacques' opinion is worth quoting at length. The context is a discussion of the "lab leak theory" and its allegedly "racist roots" and the FBI's assessment that the virus "most likely" originated from a lab. And I quote it in detail here because of its independent and objective significance:

Nearly three years ago, a reporter asked then-President Donald Trump whether he had seen evidence that gave him a “high degree of confidence” that COVID-19 had emerged from a lab in China. "Yes, I have. Yes, I have," Trump said. "And I think the World Health Organization should be ashamed of themselves because they're like the public relations agency for China." In Trump fashion, he later took that sentiment and made it more inflammatory by using “Wuhan virus” or “Chinese virus” when talking about COVID-19. The left was quick to label such phrases as racist, but also disregarded why the president used those words. A Wall Street Journal report from the weekend revealed how the U.S. Energy Department has joined the FBI in saying that COVID-19 likely spread from a Chinese lab. The Energy Department holds heft as it oversees U.S. laboratories, and it made its determination after new intelligence came to light. Similarly, on Tuesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray gave Fox News the first public confirmation of the bureau’s assessment that the virus "most likely" originated from a lab. What’s ironic is that the measures taken by the Biden administration and the news media to “protect” people from misinformation will backfire by erasing more trust in these institutions.
