Default Stonehenge was a temple to Apollo according to Diodorus, and Hyperborea was Britain.

Stonehenge was a temple to Apollo according to Diodorus, and Hyperborea was Britain.

"Diodorus 2.47 1 Now for our part, since we have seen fit to make mention of the regions of Asia which lie to the north, we feel that it will not be foreign to our purpose to discuss the legendary accounts of the Hyperboreans. Of those who have written about the ancient myths, Hecataeus and certain others say that in the regions beyond the land of the Celts there lies in the ocean an island no smaller than Sicily. This island, the account continues, is situated in the north and is inhabited by the Hyperboreans, who are called by that name because their home is beyond the point whence the north wind (Boreas) blows; and the island is both fertile and productive of every crop, and since it has an unusually temperate climate it produces two harvests each year.

2 Moreover, the following legend is told concerning it: Leto was born on this island, and for that reason Apollo is honoured among them above all other gods; and the inhabitants are looked upon as priests of Apollo, after a manner, since daily they praise this god continuously in song and honour him exceedingly. And there is also on the island both a magnificent sacred precinct of Apollo and a notable temple which is adorned with many votive offerings and is spherical in shape.

3 Furthermore, a city is there which is sacred to this god, and the majority of its inhabitants are players on the cithara; and these continually play on this instrument in the temple and sing hymns of praise to the god, glorifying his deeds."

"4 The Hyperboreans also have a language, we informed, which is peculiar to them, and are most friendly disposed towards the Greeks, and especially towards the Athenians and the Delians, who have inherited this good-will from most ancient times. The myth also relates that certain Greeks visited the Hyperboreans and left behind them there costly votive offerings bearing inscriptions in Greek letters.

5 And in the same way Abaris, a Hyperborean, came p41to Greece in ancient times and renewed the good-will and kinship of his people to the Delians. They say also that the moon, as viewed from this island, appears to be but a little distance from the earth and to have upon it prominences, like those of the earth, which are visible to the eye.

6 The account is also given that the god visits the island every nineteen years, the period in which the return of the stars to the same place in the heavens is accomplished; and for this reason the nineteen-year period is called by the Greeks the "year of Meton." At the time of this appearance of the god he both plays on the cithara and dances continuously the night through from the vernal equinox until the rising of the Pleiades, expressing in this manner his delight in his successes. And the kings of this city and the supervisors of the sacred precinct are called Boreadae, since they are descendants of Boreas, and the succession to these positions is always kept in their family."

Diodorus in this instance is using the account of Hekataeus c.500 BC. Later on using Roman sources he identifies Brutus as the eponymous founder of Britain.

Boreadae in the Greek accounts has been consonantally shifted from Brute or Brutus the king which Britain was named after, or Brutus is consonentally shifted from "Borea Deus" or god of the north.

Stonehenge is the 'spherical' temple to Apollo the god of the Sun which is known to be aligned with the sun on Midsummer's and Midwinter's Day. Other similar temples aligned with the Sun also exist all the way to the north.

Also the Prytaneis (πρυτάνεις; sing.: πρύτανις prytanis) were the executives of the boule of ancient Athens (who Diodorus says the Hyperboreans had an affinity with), so the use of the term may have also been applied to the the kings and supervisors of the sacred precinct with the same meaning and then been corrupted to Britani. These priests may have actually come from Athens, since the word exists no no other other indo-Eropean language and may have a common Tryhennian origin. Brutus also when though Tryhennia, northern Greece and Sparta (where he married the king's daughter) before he went to Britain, and there was also and Spartan king called Prytanis (later than Brutus).

The story of Medusa and the Gorgons is also set in Hyperborea and the references to the people Medusa petrified are probably to the rings of standing stones.

Even the British hill figures confirm the story about Perseus traveling to Hyperboria to kill Medusa and Chrysaor and Pegasus springing from her dead body.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_figure

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerne_Abbas_Giant
"A 1996 study found that some features have changed over time, concluding that the figure originally held a cloak in its left arm and stood over a disembodied head."

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uffington_White_Horse

The people being turned to stone is an allegory for the stone circles.

Perseus fly's West towards Hyperborea from Mt Atlas in the Russian Caucuses, and when he lands he notices images of men and animals petrified by Medusa that have been beaten by the continuous rain. This is most probably a reference to the images of men and animals inscribed on chalky hilltops and ancient stone circles. There he decapitates Medusa and Pegasus and Chrysaor are born from the blood. These two are represented by the famous Giant with his penis erect and the white horse images which have been existence on British hilltops since Neolithic times.

Next Perseus fly's due south, a euphemism for sailing around the Iberian peninsula, and comes to where Atlas is standing holding up the sky at the Pillars of Hercules and shows him Medusas head when he is turned into a mountain. Now what you have to understan is that Atlas is stangin with his legs astride, thus one leg is planted at the Pillars and the other in the Caucuses, so there are two Mt Atlases representing Atlases own legs. After this Perseus fly's past lake Triton in Libya and then on to Egypt thus firmly establishing the fact that Hyperborea is due north of the Pillars of Hercules and therefore Britain. On top of this Britain derive its name from "Prytania" which was a name given to Hecaty meaning Invincible Queen.

During Mesolithic & Neolithic era there were people with connections to Megalithic cults all over the world. During that era the deities are more crude like a Mother goddess or the rain/thunder/fertility god etc... There is a uniformity in these traditions all over Eurasia.

Those Hyperboreans are probably imaginations of some heavy weed users among greeks and their colonies based on stories that they heard from near Arctic circle

There was no such things as Mother Godesses. They are figments of imagination that have no historical basis.

Hyperborea was never a mythical place. It was always a real place visited by Greek sailors. It was a source for tin for Greeks already from Minoan times. The Minoan civilisation controled the seas from around 1800 BC followed by the Mycenaean civilisation. There is more than ample evidence to show that the Greeks were present in the British Isles since those times.

They had colonies in Sicily, Italy, France, Spain and major trading links with the British Isles. They knew where all the rivers flowed and where all the Barbarians lived and thus there was no possibility of any surprise attacks coming on them or their colonies.

The Greek colonised the major rivers of Europe all the way up steram. You cant drink salt water so you have to build you settlement by a river.

The descriptions of petrified men and animals refer to the now picture of men and animas carved into the chalky hilltops. The weather is the same as that of Britain's and the Gorgon cult of Hekate aka Prytania is where Britian got its Roman name.

The British version of Hekate, Prytania who shares all the same epithets as Hekate was dipicted in the same way as Medusa with snakes in her hair.

There is strong evidence that they did.

There's also vidence among American Indians of Greek presence there.

Keep in mind that the Minoans after 2000 BC are Greek speaking. They are the same people as the Myceneans and the Classical Greeks. Linear A was invented to record Greek. The people before that period are wrongly called Minoans as King Minos lived only three generations before the Trojan war. The correct term for the earlier people is Hellads (see Helladic civilization)

It was likely a god-like Belenus (Celtic) Bǣldæġ (Anglo-Saxon) Baldur (Norse) equivalent to Apollo.

Of course, all these deities have a common origin, the Greeks and Romans had a habit of writing them as their own deities.

The Hyperboreans also have a language, we informed, which is peculiar to them, and are most friendly disposed towards the Greeks, and especially towards the Athenians and the Delians, who have inherited this good-will from most ancient times.
The Ionians in particular were associated with Delos as we also can see in the Homeric Hymn to Apollo. The name for England or Agglia (or Anglia) is exactly the same as the old name for Greece which was "Aigelia". Thus the so-called early Angles were actually Ionian Greek colonists who as Herodotus tells us were called Aigelian Pelasgi.

England itself comes from the Aigialean Pelasgi which means coast dweller as opposed to Pelasgians which means city dweller. Nearly the oldest name of all Greek tribes were original Pelasgaigeans, and all Greek tribal names derive from it. Achaean = Ocheanus etc. Ionia before it was called Ionia it was called Aigelia. The name Hellenes itself was a corruption of the name Aigaileans. The further north you go the more the name is corrupted. The name "Pelasgialeans" was probably the original name of all these greek speaking tribes.

The Greeks called other people's gods after their own god. The Greek sun god was Apollo (the successor to Helios) so that name was given to the sun god of the Britons/Hyperborans. The Britons/Hyperborans would have called it the sun or whatever the Welsh word for sun is, "haul" I think. Oh look, it's a derivative of Helios, just like Apollo probably is.

The Hyperboreans must have been Hellenes-Italo-Celts-Illyrians.

7000 years ago it was impossible to inhabit northern Europe because of the Ice Age, thus all of the M173 linage, excluding those who became the Basques and Hispanics migrated to the Balkans. The M173 linage who went to the Balkans became the Illyrian-Italo-Celts and Hellenes. The break between the Illyrian-Italo-Celts and the Hellenes can be dated historically to 1450.

By 1250 BC the Celts were recorded in the Rhone-Rhine region. In 1163 BC the Italic tribes reached northern Italy and subsumed the Tyrennians (a tribe of originating from Caria in 1610 BC). At the same time the Latin's who had no relation to the Italics, but were a Hellenic tribe of Hellenic from Troy reached Rome.

Hesiod who was in a better position to know, wrote these originated from the people expelled with the Hakadoncheris, "50 oared ships" and Cyclopes "massive stone moving cranes and war engines".

The expulsion of the Hakadoncheris to Hyperborea took place in 1700 BC, hence this is a myth about a Helleno-Celtic colonisation of Britain. There is plenty of archeological evidence to back this up since the techniques used to build Phase III of Stonehenge, the stone circle, were exactly the same as those used by the Mycenaens. The date of this phase 2550-1600 fits in perfectly with a date of 1700 BC for the expulsion and imprisonment of the Hakadoncheris and Cyclopes. The original recorders of the story the myth was based on may have even travelled to Britain in their Hekatoncheris or Pentakonters and seen the stone circle and described it as looking like prison bars with huge Cyclopes or Cranes in the middle.

"Hakadoncheri" = One Hundred Hands = Fifty Oars. The Greek word for Crane has always been "Cyclope".

The fact that people knew when these buildings were built and who built them is proof of recorded history. The Cyclopses were a tribe of smiths and builders.

How do you think the Titans and Gods were able to hurl huge rocks at each other. They had catapults since Minoan times. How do you think the Cyclops Polyphemus hurled rocks at Odysseus. How do you think the Cyclops's built the walls of Mycenae. The Greek word for a catapult or a crane is cyclope. Polyphemus the Cyclops was a watch tower with some sort of search light or even a mirror telescope.

Diodorus explains that the Greeks knew the difference between dramatisations written by Poets and the original histories that did not contain flying bulls and winged horses. The supernatural effects were added by the poets to make history more palatable to the audience. But Greek myths are based on real historical events and are proven archaeologically and historically.

Monmouth says that Brennus was the brother of Belinus. Belinus returned to Britain after Gabius/Fabius was killed. Brennus stayed behind and terrorised the Romans. Livy's account dates the events to around 480 BC, which is when all if the male line of the Fabii were wiped out bar one.

After Brennus was expelled, he fled to France, married the daughter of the king of the Allobroges and then became their king and the leader of all the French tribes he amassed to attack Rome with the aid of his brother.

Livy's account makes no mention of either Gauls of Britons. They were nothing more than mercenaries or opportunists allied with Rome's neighbours who it was fighting against.

Monmouths account is confirmed by Plutarch who quotes Heracleides Ponticus who was almost contemporary with the events, "On the soul," says that out of the West a story prevailed, how an army of Hyperboreans had come from afar and captured a Greek city called Rome, situated somewhere on the shores of the Great Sea." (Camillus)

The Hyperboreans have always been assumed to be the British.
