Are the ones with French surnames of Haitian or actual French descent? And I assume Wessin is Jewish?

Espaillat is from actual French descent (a petit blanc that came from the Haitian part when it was still French, but the actual ancestral seat of the family is the Catalan counties, just like the case of the painter, Rigaud). The other Frenchy ones are Haitian proper, yes, but there is a caveat at that: most Haitian families that have integrated here had mulatto background on the western part, so there is a racial element to it too. Wessin is Lebanese.
