Why its not called Fatherland would be the real question.
Also many people don't even know but my Motherland is my Birthplace? Bratislava aka Pozsony was a Hungarian city for 1000 years, I can't do anything with retarted autist French pigs giving this city to Slovaks.

    You are welcome any time.

By the way, if your father was indeed from Spain it should be super easy to acquire the nationality (if you wanted). Although not entirely sure how it works for adults....

Yep! jus sanguinis, the right of blood. I looked into it years ago. I will probably do it eventually... When i am going through a midlife crisis. I will move to Spain and get citizenship. It will be a fun adventure.

It's definitely a mix of both. I hear my father talk about his country with so much love and pride and it warms my heart. But I also feel very British and will always have love for the UK.

There should be a "both" option... My ancestry is extraordinarily important, but my birthplace is linked to my ancestry-- the migrations of Eastern Europeans during the early 20th century, and their experience in the places they ended up are equally significant to my generation. I suppose the further away from our immigrant ancestors we are (generationally), the more insignificant our place of ancestry is.

    I choose ethnic motherland.

I was born in territory what is now Croatia, and my ancestors lived there since 16-17th century, but as an ethnic Serb, I see Serbia (where I live since year 2) and Serb Republic in Bosnia, more important.

I like micro-region where my ancestors lived as a majority population, but toward Croatia as a whole I dont feel any connection.
