Russian eye color (Senate study)

I counted eye color of Russian Senate (200 members).

I excluded:
- people with East Asian appearance.
- people with Tatar, Bashkir names
- people with Caucasian names
- people who publicly stated they belong to another ethnicity
- Jews
- two Tatars and two Caucasians who had light eyes.

The final sample included 135 members. I had to google a lot due to low resolution of pictures [228x228] on the government website.

Results:

Blue/grey blue 62,2%
Grey & light mixed 12,6%
Hazel/evenly mixed 12,6%
Dark mixed and Brown 12,6%

In total 74,8% light and light mixed eyes.

Not that I'm aware of. I'm just guessing based on other data.

1 senator had a German surname - Viktor Kress.

You can exclude him, bring the sample down to 134 and it will not change any percentages.

I also included at least 15 people with Belarusian/Ukrainian surnames – they were darker-eyed compared to people with Russian surnames and brought the light % down.

Edit: you bothered me hard so I counted these 15 people with Belarusian/Ukrainian surnames.

Results:

Blue/grey blue 53,3%
Grey & light mixed 6,7%
Hazel/evenly mixed 26,7%
Dark mixed and Brown 13,3%

In total 60% light and light mixed eyes compared to 74,8% in the grand sample.
