@sean: you're right up to a point - birth rates have been plummeting all over the globe, including to a certain extent across Africa. In fact, several countries which you really wouldn't expect have birth rates below replacement rate nowadays: Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, some states in India.

Africa has lower birth rates than before, but also lower infant mortality and higher life expectancy than before (which is good), so its population growth won't slow down by much.

Its obvious, most of africa was more or less tribalistic until quite recently, just as europeans hit massive population growth during Industralization, the africans will too, its natural demographic development, but lets hope africa manages to advance on their own continent and theres no need to migrate anymore AND with progress comes the effect of less children, so eventually it will stagnate just like in the rest of the world.

Pakistan should surpass Brazil around 2021 and Nigeria around 2024.

Pakistan got 5th population in 2019 and Nigeria 6th place in 2022.

I would estimate Nigeria's population surpass Pakistan population around 2024 while studies show around 2030
