From Johannes (Viipurin lääni) up to Oulanka (“Republic of Uhtua”) a few odd note melkonens have popped up.
@ Lemmi:
Had sometimes wondered about this bloke, a family friend of Melkonen’s from Johannes I trust.
You know Balts. What is he? A long nose Balt?

Aila, my ancestry is on my mother side mostly western Finnish and on my fathers side mixed. My grandma was partly west European and grandpa was something I don't know. I have only one picture from his youth and he looks like a steppe nomad, lol. You are not alone with your eastern looking ancestry.

they look robust for sure
I think they have somewhat resemblance to these Tatars who fought and died for Finland in WWII?

Aila I like your avatar, it resembles some petroglyphs that I saw depicting a shaman transforming or shapeshifting in rituals, maybe making a connection. Do you know its meaning?

All ethnic groups living in Finland fought against communism. Most Czars were very liked in Finland during Grand Duchy and the old hatred from the 18th century was fading away. Communism was hated. Tatar were traders and shopkeepers, Jews as well. They had good reasons to fight against communistic Russia.
Finnish Tatars were originally Mishar Tatars, but probably later mixed with otver Tatars due to marriages. They are Muslims and bring spouses from abroad

People from two Finnish provinces.
Southwestern Finns who fought 1918 in Estonia against Russia
Ostrobothnians in the same Estonian war 1918
