I would say that the differences are there but the centre of Italy still has the dark types predominating and also a handful more light types, though the darkest central Italians are not really darker than the darkest southern Italians, it is similar to the situation in Spain where the darkest Andalusians are no darker than the darkest Catalans.

Does this make sense. The color of the skin depends on the uv index and nothing else, natural selection is very fast. Between central and southern Italy there are obviously differences in the uv index but usually this difference corresponds to a small difference in the proportion in the skin color, nothing particular. For example the darkest 20th in the south is equivalent to the darkest 14th in the centre italy. Small.

Aren't your eyes enough to understand? Or don't those work for you? Do I have to apologize to you if this is my real face and in those light conditions I look like this? Italians are a cross between French Tunisians as skin colors, just like Iberians, Albanians and Greeks, so what's strange?

Both Central and South Italy are told to be predominately Dinaro-Med but some Dinaro-Meds from South Italy are indeed Orientalids, in my honest opinion.

on the Eurogenes K13 plot (PC1, PC2) one can observe these different clusters, so there are at least 5 easily distinguishable genetic clusters:

    -1-
    Italian Trentino
    Italian Friuli
    Italian Veneto
    Italian Piedmont
    Italian Aosta Valley
    Swiss Italian
    French Provence

    -2- (intermediate towards next cluster)
    Italian Lombardy
    Italian Liguria
    Italian Emilia

    -3-
    Italian Tuscany
    Italian Romagna
    French Corsica
    Italian Umbria
    Italian Marche
    Italian Lazio

    -4-
    Sardinian

-5- (clusters where the Balkan queue unites with the Italian queue)
    Greek Cyclades
    Greek Andros
    Italian Abruzzo
    Italian Basilicata
    Italian Molise
    Italian Apulia
    Italian Campania
    Italian Sicily
    Italian Calabria
    Maltese
    Greek North Aegean
