What do you associate with Western European culture?

Which countries do you associate the most with it?

Western European culture is based upon 4 major influences (I can develop them if required) in short :

    - Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations
    - Christianity
    - The Enlightenment
    - Industrial Revolution

This is why France is the heart of Western European culture, it is the most intensive synthesis of these 4 major influences

It's a hollow term because Western European cultures vary greatly. Almost as hollow as 'European culture'. At least Eastern Europe has a predominantly Slavic core, Western Europe is split down the middle ethnically and religiously. The only way it is culturally united is in politics, and only since the War (and more recently for Iberia).

The countries most associated with Western European culture are the ones that have most defined it, and the 4 big ones in no order are France, Britain, Germany, and Italy (i.e. the Griswold's European Vacation itinerary).
