Why's Portugal's public life considerably more multi-ethnic than in other Southern Euro countries?

I think that the lighting, makeup and summer season can sometimes change some perceptions.

You know what the truth is.
Gisela João was born in Barcelos, north of Portugal and while she was not famous she had untanned white skin, like idk 95%+ of us have.

The moment she became famous and moved to Lisbon, where the sun really burns she tanned herself and now appears to be wog when untanned she has milk skin.
And this happen to most euro looking "wog" portuguese you come across.

People very intelligently assume that Iberia is climate-wise like Scandinavia. /s

* Just to give you an idea in Paris the temperature this Winter went in average 3º in Portugal it was about 17º. Imagine Summer, all year long and accumulation of Sun. And compared to other europeans iberians have much more outdoor life and for wider periods of time during the year.

Why?

1• Because the Portugueses established relationship with Africa and India earlier than all other European sea powers.

2• They were also the last ones to keep colonies on those continents.

Not far from where I live there is a middle-sized industrial town (called Méru) where above 25% of citizens are Portuguese migrants. Nearly all of them are definitely coloured. Because a sizeable share is actually made of mongrelized Cape-Verdeans.

Same thing happens with Euro-Brazilians, btw the climate from some places from Southeastern and Central-Western Brazil is definitely much hotter than Lisbon, and even on the summer most Euro-Brazilians(that are common on those regions) don't get much swarthy...

Because maybe they aren't exposed that many hours in the Sun.

Even Danes living in Portugal for about a year become. Imagine a lifetime. Generation after generation.

Seeing foreigners here a lot, I know if they stay here on vacation for more than a month tanning they become really swarthy. There was even one time that caught really my attention that was this typical dutch lady, blonde and all, but so brown so brown that I didn't see it even among us.
