    Default Are East Slavs the most divergent from other Slavs?

    Having analyzed various Slavic interactions and evolutions I feel like Yugoslavs and West Slavs have more in common with each other compared to East Slavs (especially Russians) who seem to be the odd ones out here. Russian language also seems to have more alien vocabulary compared to Polish or Slovak which retained more pure Slavic words. Also Russians seem more alienated from Europe compared to the other Slavs.

    Having analyzed Slavic languages, Slavic history and Slavic genetics I concluded that "West Slavs" and "East Slavs" is a false dichotomy.

    Poles + Ukrainians makes more sense than Poles + Czechs. You also have them historically belonging to different entities, such as HRE and Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth.

    Linguistically such grouping is not justified either.

    South Slavic group is also flawed. Slovenia is the biggest outlier – language, history, genetics.

    Nothing is made of permanent glue and these things can still be adjusted.

    I have similar results as other people from my region of Poland (I also have examples of other G25 results of Western Poles).

    Western Poles and South-Western Poles are closer to Slovaks, Moravians, Sorbs & Czechs than to Ukrainians and Belarusians.

    Even in Global25 you can see that the Polish cluster occupies a large area but you always focus only on the eastern part of it.

    =====

    There are even Poles who score similar to Lithuanians, if you go to Suwałki Region of Poland. Poles are quite diverse.

    This entire red area is the space where Polish samples plot in G25:

    We overlap with Russians ONLY in the eastern fraction of this area:

    Some Poles lived in the HRE. Poles in Silesia for example.

    We are talking about Poles and Ukrainians, not Poles and Russians.

    Polish average is far closer to Ukrainian average than to Czech average.

    You also overlap with Southern Russians, and do not reach Lithuanians in this G25 plot because Suwalki samples were omitted for some reason.

    With those Suwalki samples, Polish average would move even farther from Czechs and closer to Belarusians/Lithuanians.

    ^^^ Yes but that's not because Poles are East Slavs. That's because Ukrainians are West Slavs.

    At least Western Ukrainians are West Slavs, and probably also a large part of Central Ukrainians.

    Ukraine was a Polish "colony" and we really colonized it with settlers from our other territories.

    =====

    BTW this is how Wielkopolskie Voivodeship samples plot, no overlap with Ukrainian samples:

    Czech samples in G25 are probably mainly Bohemians, with very few or no Moravians and Czech Silesians.

    If Ukrainians are West Slavs and Belarusians with Russians are the only East Slavs left it's further proving my original point that the current groups are not sensible.
