Where does this misconception of the US being so Leftist come from?

LOL at those who talk about the US being so left-wing. This is the same country where:

- Millions live without health insurance.
- The death penalty is still practiced in some states.
- More people are incarcerated than anywhere else both in relative and real terms.
- Parental leave and holiday pay are by far the least generous in the industrialised world.
- University education is by far the most expensive in the industrialised world.
- Around half the population own guns.
- The government spends more on the military than the next twenty or so countries COMBINED (including China).

All this stuff about BLM, man-hating feminism and genderfluidity is, to a quite considerable extent, a massive red herring. And even accepting the decidedly shallow (mis)understanding many on this forum have about what Leftism is, the US certainly is not that exceptional. In terms of LGBT acceptance, the Pew Global Survey puts the US as closer to Chile than Sweden. In terms of racial tolerance, that there are a lot more non-white politicians, media personalities, businesspeople, sportspeople etc. than in the past is merely the country reflecting itself, which for a long time it really did not. Furthermore, Blacks in Britain marry out at substantially higher rates than their US counterparts do.

Nobody thinks the US is more 'leftist' than other Western countries, just that it has been the main vessel of promoting anti-white/cultural marxist/globalist garbage around the world for decades through it's toxic media, from Hollywood, TV/newsmedia, Big Tech and everything else, which don't reflect much on ordinary Americans.

We don't have this perception, i would say even the contrary for the US. However we feel that all the left ideas constantly stream from there. The thick of it, as a boomerang admittedly (Foucault deconstructivism f.e).

In general there is a staunch disparity in a country between what is presented in the medias, its elite cultural world, politics and the real population stances. Sometimes i even feel it's inversely proportional. Countries in Europe considered more conservatives are less than you expect in real interactions basis, i got caught by that a few times. The cultural elite even more so, but it's probably an epidermic mechanism against the establishement that works everywhere. Your stereotypical tertiary bourgeois boheme is the same caricature of itself anywhere in Europe, he even dresses the same, with carbon copy ideas in the East than the West, sometimes overcompensating for his governement speech with even more grotesque forms.

Leftist ideas actually come from France (nothing good comes from modern French philosophy) and Germany (Frankfurt school, for example) and they find fertile ground in American academia where our 'elites' go forth and promote bullshit louder than any Euro can because of our entertainment and technological dominance. However, the average White American - unlike the average Eurofag - has a very different mindset than our 'cultural elite.'

Here is an example of the disconnect between academia and the rest of society: I've seen a military historian get upset that someone used 'gendered language.'

The philosophical science of it came from here, yes, but it's not because we give you the recipe to make atomic bombs, you actually have to use it. I reckon it was more dangerous to expose it in America in the first place, since minorities were already there, taking it to the letter of the law. Now we get the force feedback of it.

US corporations (and to a significant extent their counterparts elsewhere too), whatever their stated feelings about transgenders and taking the knee might be, are still ultimately right-wing in essence because:

- They seek to pay as little tax as possible, whether Income Tax or Corporation Tax.
- Their set-ups are usually very hierarchical and unequal, with massive disparities in both earnings and power between the CEOs, management and the rest.
- They believe in free movement of capital and to a somewhat lesser extent labour, regardless of how detrimental this may be to the economy of a given region or nation.

The NHS is far from perfect, but at least no one will be left to die because they cannot afford the medical bill.
