As I've said before most of the antagonism (and some of the support, to be fair) here is dependent on the ethnic background of the posters. They're angry about Russia because decades or centuries ago they were totally mean to their ethnicity or whatever.

This made me overthink Zemmour.

Jews arent collectivly born as evil people to clarify that, they have their own intrests and that fine if it plays out for them. But what plays out for them often means harm to Eurasians.

You yourself assigned the label of "prorussian" because someone has a different opinion. When people have a different opinion than most of the world, it is "prorussian". I even heard someone in Poland say that the opponents of vaccinations are prorussian - This is already absurd.

I am now because this was a premeditated and unjustified invasion and one would have to be blindfolded to not see it, as the zealots around here who think that Ukraine was ploting to join NATO to launch an invasion to Russia.

The invasion was a long time coming. The Ukrainian government has been discriminating against Russian speakers the moment it illegitimately came to power in 2014 in a coup, and when this population decide to break off - because it makes no sense to support a government that is discriminating against your ethnic group - they were attacked and this has been going on for years now. The Russian ethnic minority had no real ethnic consciousness but now they certainly do. That's thanks to US orchestrating a coup by ultra nationalist Ukrainians. So the invasion is a long time coming.

Where were all the posters upset about the invasion when civilians were being killed in Donbas from constant shelling? Now they suddenly care about civilians.

No serious person argues Ukraine was going to be a NATO nation soon. You don't need to be in NATO to be in its sphere of influence. The US government didn't orchestrate the coup in 2014 just because they had nothing better to do. It was understood in the early 90s that the US would leave Ukraine alone and we have consistently gone back on our word. It would be like Russia meddling in Mexico's affairs and sending them missiles. Obviously, the US government would respond if the situation was reversed.

No, Ukraine like Hungary, Poland or the Baltic states, did not intend to become a base for an hypothetical invasion of Russia. Ukraine tried to join NATO because it knew that only the mutual defence obligation of the Atlantic Alliance could dissuade Putin from invading and allow them some stability to follow their own path aligned with the rest of Europe.

When did Ukraine decide they wanted to join NATO? Before or after the 2014 coup?

An Ukraine that is not aligned with Russia is something that should bother Putin a lot. He might be thinking that it is already too much to have Poland, the Baltic countries, even Romania growing vigorously and contrasting with a stagnant Russia. How could he allow the same thing to happen with Ukraine? Putin is smarter than that, he knows perfectly well that as soon as the living standards improve significantly the Russian diaspora loses any interest in uniting back with Russia. Go and ask the Russian diaspora in the Baltic countries if they still have any interest in joining the motherland and exchange their euro salaries for roubles and go back to have to bribe everything and everyone to get something done.

I don't care about any of that. Russia sucks. I get that. I care about an ethnic minority that was living peacefully with their Ukrainian neighbors until ultra nationalists took over and began discriminating against Russians. How would you react if you were a Russian living in eastern Ukraine? How would you react if you were a Russian knowing that people of your ethnic group are being bombarded for no other reason than they refuse to be discriminated against?

If I was a Russian - and looking out for my nation's best interests - I'd care that a nation that is antagonistic to my own and has nukes pointed at me - controls one of my neighbors who borders a very key military base (Sevastopol Naval Base).

The US government wouldn't stand for it if the situation was reversed whether an invasion appeared realistic or not. It would be negligence on the part of the US government if a foreign power was controlling a neighboring government and we didn't act in some way to undermine that influence. Let's be honest, who can predict the future?

Vaguely skimmed the rest of your post and it seemed quite silly too.

Russian losses are mounting and their progress is much slower than expected. I suppose when you give 50% of your budget to oligarchs and the mafia sometimes weaponary doesn't get updated or replenished.

I feel sorry for the Russian conscripts, though.
