Of London's 33 boroughs, there are seven where fewer than half the councillors are White British/Irish: Barking and Dagenham, Brent, Enfield, Hounslow, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets. The most curious of these is Barking and Dagenham, which until recently used to be the hub of White working-class London. By contrast, the others have long been major hubs for immigration: Brent for Afro-Caribbeans and Indians; Enfield for Afro-Caribbeans, Turks, Kurds, Cypriots and Jews; Hounslow for Indians; Newham for Bangladeshis and Black Africans; Redbridge for Indians and Tower Hamlets for Bangladeshis.

Possibly though the Arab population there is quite prominent even in winter, a lot of the local schools and colleges have quite a lot of Arab looking students, basically in Westminster the further away from Marble arch going north and west you get the less flamboyant and wealthy the Arabs are.

Well aren't neighbourhoods like St John's Wood and Maida Vale still fairly White (by London standards)?

St J Wood is very white, i think Maida vale is more mixed than the former which is where a lot of celebrities and finance types live but in general the Arab population of Westminster is quite significant with not just the summer visitors but poorer north Africans and refugees as well, it seems that Turks are very overrepresented in Enfield, nepotism?

Yes I was surprised by Enfield - I knew it had lots of Turks but didn't think it was that extreme.

Ha yeah, something dodgy going on there, the African population there is huge, if anything Enfield is where a lot of poorer Londoners are to be found now, only a few Black councillors in Enfield which is quite contrary to what the general population of the place is, i have met many Black people who live there.

It seems that compared to South Asians and even MENAs, Blacks don't get involved in politics as much in general.
