I was just wondering about this, because it seems like a bulk of Americans can't trace their ancestry pre 1900 or 1880 at best. There was a mass immigration from Irish, Italians, and later Slavics to the US in those years in the late 19th and early 20th century. Those of the original Colonial Anglo stock seem to be less percentage of the White European American population. The majority of Germans settled in the Midwest and most White Americans identify as Germans. There were some German settlers in the Colonial period (even I have some ) but most came over much later. So does this mean that Anglo identity is lost for Americans?
