Most White Americans today are not descended from the original Anglo settlers?

I was just wondering about this, because it seems like a bulk of Americans can't trace their ancestry pre 1900 or 1880 at best. There was a mass immigration from Irish, Italians, and later Slavics to the US in those years in the late 19th and early 20th century. Those of the original Colonial Anglo stock seem to be less percentage of the White European American population. The majority of Germans settled in the Midwest and most White Americans identify as Germans. There were some German settlers in the Colonial period (even I have some ) but most came over much later. So does this mean that Anglo identity is lost for Americans?

Non Anglo migrants have, more or less, been settled in most states since the 1850s, so, if one's family was pure Anglo before, it's much less likely today.

My mother's side was the original Colonial Settlers. Mostly all Anglo. She married a mutt.

Probably only a minority of Americans are descendents of original settlers.

Almost all all white Americans have at least one colonial ancestor. 10% alone are mayflower descendants, but its mostly euromutts nowadays. Pure British/Anglo colonial ancestry is most concentrated in the South

I think not all have a colonial ancestor. Do you have a colonial ancestor? I think you dont. And there are many albanians, greeks,and such like you.

Obviously not counting very recent immigrants. Also one 1 colonial ancestor out of the thousands since 1600, the chances are pretty good I would say

But that would be so minor, that it might even be washed out genetically, since at a certain point you inherit nothing from a ancestor. like parents 50% grandparents 25% etc. etc. after 500 years you probably have nothing of a ancestor anymore. What do you think how many colonial ancestors do you need minimum that it shows and you can call yourself a anglo-american?

The most common ancestral component for White Americans is British (British is the baseline). The self-reported stats are inaccurate because of the fact that their wave of immigration is more recent and less ambiguous, people can usually trace a German grandfather or great grandfather whereas finding British ancestry usually involves tracing back centuries to find the ancestors that crossed the Atlantic.

Germans are absolutely dwarfed by all the different varieties of British descended Americans combined (including "American" ancestry).

German is only the largest if you split British into five parts:

1. American (Old stock)
2. English
3. Scottish
4. Scots-Irish
5. Welsh
