maybe he realise if Russia turn on Hungary he burned his bridges with EU a bit.
Also I think people who assumed Russia would ever give any of sub carpathia to Hungary imo not in a millio years,

Im not really concerned neither he should be. There is very very small chance they will even think about attacking central-European countries.
Key countries Russia will always keep satellite on is Ukraine/Belarus and Kazachstan/Caucasius.
Attacking any central-Euro country would automatically signal collective defense system of NATO and as I mentioned before that would probably mean WW3

many people didnt expect he would actually invade Ukraine, lets hope it settles down soon.

It was obvious during/after Majdan. It was all based on UA decision and talks with EU/NATO
